The stickers on a XRL are inside the left plastic side panel. OE only, not replacement pieces.

Mine is a 2002 and I have factory plastics. I'll get pictures after work if the stickers haven't fallen off...

I appreciate it! It should say "Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Sticker" or "FMVSS" or something like that. I sent them the sticker that says "Motorcycle Noise Emission Control Information" and that was not the one they were looking for. Once again, a big thank you for your help.

I almost bought a nice 650r here in NY plated but heard that the state computers show the bike is for off road use only and that they are pulling the titles that show otherwise. I went the safe route and picked up the L

I would assume they are looking for a VIN plate like the one shown here:

http://www.valkyrienorway.com/VIN%20NUMBERS.html

Off-Road models do not have these. The plate is much more simplistic.

I don't have the side panel anymore, but here is the 2002 VIN plate.

I think I am screwed. If the VIN is on the sticker then there is no way it will get through. Anyone need a primo xr650R that is ready to be plated in every state except Illinois?

There are several other states where it would not pass muster. Idaho is good to go though. I'll give you $100 for it

There is a place online that you can purchase blank vin plates. I have a friend who buys them for his junkyard vintage bikes, then takes them to an engraver and has the info put on the plate. They come with the rivits that you then attach the plate to the bike....check out this site:

Older, yes....smarter....well that's to be determined....I do know these plates work here in Fl.....they are pricey, but when you need something like that to get a bike registered, 30.00 is insignificant!

$30.00 is nothing. There are places here in Cali that will do the paperwork to register your bike as a new build for $500.00. This is after you have everything on the bike to make it legal, lights, turn signals, high-low beam, horn and brake light.
