Mine has the " de comp rattle" when cold and the noise goes away when the engine warms up. I use 5W-40.

I pulled my pump a little while ago and found the scavenger side was pretty worn. I put in new to me pump ( low miles pump off ebay ) and the operating temp. went down quite a bit.

I have often wondered how many oil coolers are installed when a new oil pump is really what the engine needs.

Works for me. As long as I can get a key copy for it. Promise not to steal your bike! For too long anyways...

Why is anyone running the 5w oil weight? IMHO, I don't believe Honda developed the oil pump for such a light weight. The oil weight "range" as recommended by manufacturers is based on the engine/oil pump design. Was 5wt even being used back in 1993?

I tried using a 5 wt in a older car motor and lost all oil pressure (gauge). I switched to a proper weight and pressure jumped to the correct psi.

When I speck of 5wt I am including any 5/? wt oil.

I personally run the gold bottle honda oil and my bike runs/sounds/ idles/ shifts better then with any other oil. Seems to stay cleaner longer also.

Question Stator upgrade wiring

So i'm looking for some advice from the Electrical Gurus on here. After throwing a chain I put a hole in my left case cover and somewhat destroyed the stator wiring. While I was in the process of putting a new case cover (and a new case saver) I thought why not upgrade the stator too. So I got one through the guys at PRO CYCLE, which is manufactured by ELECTRO SPORT http://www.electrosport.com/dirt-bik...r-3-phase.html. Supposidly it puts out 260w at 3500rpm. Sweet right?

Now the problem is that this new stator has 3 wires, and all are the same color, while the stock has 3 out of which 2 are power and one gets grounded immediately as soon as it exits the case. According to the guys at Electro Sport, all three wires from the NEW upgraded stator are "equal" and should go directly out, aka nothing gets grounded.

Is this even possible? What the heck do I do. Cant find any info on this via google.

The only reason why I wanted to upgrade the stator was to accomodate the new HID Projector lights (a whole different mess), power outlet for gps etc, and heated grips for later in the fall.

Can anyone shed some light into this?

It is not 5 wt. It is 5w-40 full synthetic. It has been recommended by many on this forum and others.

You can use 5w40 in these engines......it`ll pump up faster in cold weather.only issue is the polymers to get it to 5w40.......it`ll shear down to the base 5w quickly, the wider the spread in viscosity,,the more polymers that are used,,,and straight cut trans gears will shred the polymers,i would not run this beyond the 2k miles..
