Ms. Fritz? In my dreams with so many others.

The carb. coating I did on my Husky carb. went well. I had to use steel wool to smooth out a few thick spots to get the slide to bore fit perfect. The build up of these coatings is about .0005". and sometimes there is a slight run or buildup at an edge.

Can anyone suggest a dainty pipe guard that really works - and looks "factory"?

I had the same problem. I think I still have the template for this home made guard. But it's for a White Bros. pipe.

So some of you guys may remember me talking about a rattling/ratcheting in the top end of my XRL. I tore it down but couldn't find anything wrong with the cam chain, valve cover or rocker arms.

I put it back together checked the valves buttoned up the rest and got the same noise. I restarted the bike for a few folks and it always made the same noise, then I started it so my father-in-law could listen to it and it was gone.

I'm sure it will be back just posting here as I know one other fellow here is chasing the same issue.

Lately mine has been nice and quite on start up but is making the noise at the first stop sign about a mile down the road. Then it comes and goes as it pleases.

Its aggravating enough to make a preacher cuss!

I still haven't pulled mine apart to see. Going by your post, I may not see too much.

+1, the small springs in the de comp cam fail. You need to press the cam apart to fix.

Tire size????

So, I am looking at tires, and I am trying to figure out what metric size will fit on the XRL.

140/80-18?
120/90-18?
130/80-18?

I have looked at the conversion, but what would "the minds" recommmend?

I am pretty dissatisfied with the Shinko 244 as far as mileage and durability go for the rear tire.

I am seriously contemplating the Mefo Explorer or the Heidenau K60 Scout.

Might end up with a much cheaper tire though....

I am almost to the point of putting a more street oriented tire on and switching it anytime I want to do any real off-road.... Man, I wish hub and rim setups weren't so expensive.

Thanks for the help in advance,
