color question on R100PD

In my attempt to defeminize my PD, I'm considering changing the color of my lower cowl and roo bars to black. I have black solo corbin coming. Any thoughts?

Why screw up an already heinous paint scheme?

(BTW I had a red and white one of those!)

I've got the red and white one and, yeah, I'm not in love with it. What were they thinkin' with that gravel theme? Then again, what were they thinking with that oil fitler, driveshaft, circlip, rotor... calm down... breathe deeply.. think nice thoughts... whew, sorry, I'm alright now. Oh yeah, the colour - the bikes are so unique that I'd suggest just riding it andd see if the colour grows on you, (or you might be so busy, ahh, "tinkering", that the colour will be the least of your worries).

I've had the bike for a while. The lower cowl needs painting and so does the roo bars. I've been playing with photoshop and alpine white works much better than black. I like the colors just not all the contrast.

all the frame and roo bars: black satin powder coat.

tank, side panels, fairing: olive drab. like those land rovers in teh 70's.

" gravel theme " ...... I thought that was puke?

I powdered coated my bars black. Much nicer than the faded red. bye

you need someone to cut you some 'Miami Vice' logo decals-- THAT would save this particular paint scheme. Then wear a linen suit and no socks-- yr set!

We should all have your troubles! I'd be happy to just have more power and fewer than the 50k miles my 800 G/S has.

with obvious color reservations...Nice bike!

I say try to find some crappy ones to repaint. Save the nice stock ones in case you sell the bike someday.

DEFEMINIZE? Those are harsh words. Man, that color bothers you THAT much? I've got a 95 red/white one. Yours was my second favorite color. If my PD had been that color, I would have embraced it. Heck, in a parking lot full of PD's, yours will be the unusual one. Just sayin'

As for the gravel graphics, yeah, I agree with others but I wasn't peeling it off. AFAIK the best paint scheme was the original "Paris Dakar" paint scheme and graphics. After that, yours is the most unique. I'd keep it, brag about it, celebrate it.

After Brokeback Mountain was released, all the cowboys around here have been eye'n my PD. Like I said earlier, I like the color but feel I must guard its virtue.

I tried my hand at photoshopping satin black and alpine white for the cowl and roo bars. Both looked hideous. I'm going to stay with the stock scheme.

Okay, lemme tell ya' 'bout a PD paint scheme. If you REALLY want to do something to that bike, go bumblebee.

Just before Christmas I saw a freshly painted PD down at Irv Seaver's BMW. They did exactly the same paint lines/combos/angles as the first PD paint scheme. The difference was that it was done black and yellow and the Paris Dakar decals were either stenciled by a very talented artist or they were replicated in gray.

It was so bad-ass looking that I almost wept for my 'plain' Marlboro colored bike. If mine EVER needs paint, it's going that way. It was gorgeous. It should have been that way. They should have ALL been painted that way. I wish I had pics of it.

Shit bud, you should have taken a picture. The PD is my favorite bike because of its body lines. It really has an almost toy like quality.
