Rally Racing...

I'm interested in catching a rally race this year. There are several held on the East Coast... Cherokee Trails (TN), Snowshoe (WV), Sand Hills (SC) as well as others (AL, VA). Anyone with any info on any of these events please, enlighten me. If all goes according to plan, we could make a pretty decent weekend out of an event. Snowshoe seemed particuarly promising as there is good riding in evey direction and hundreds of places to pitch a tent.

Question

What is a Rally race in the U.S.? The only Rally race I have ever heard of is the Paris Dakar. I might be interested!

Thanks for the link T595Greg. I thought we were talking motorcycle rally racing though. Do they have a class for motorcycles? I did not see anything about motorcycle classes.

Cherokee TN in March

Im interested in the local Cherokee event in March. Went to the site for directions/locations info and its under construction. They better get it in gear if they expect any spectator/fan support seeing as how the rally is less than two months away. I'd like to get hold of a course map and pre ride on the DR to scope out the best viewing spots.

Loved watching the SCCA Pro rally a few years ago.
Too bad they screwed it up by charging admission the next year.
Made you pay and put the spectators where you could barely see the cars.
Pro's didn't come back after that, at least not to Chattanooga.
The cars were a blast to watch hauling ass through the woods, real easy to mingle with the drivers and mechs. too.
Keep us informed about the scheduling, sounds like a great ride- camp opportunity.

If I'm coming to C-town to watch any racing I'm camping at your place!

I'm thinking group ride/group camp thing as well. I don't know enough about each event to know which would be worth the ride to. I have an idea that Sand Hills probably isn't the best thing going but then again, Snowshoe may not be all that either.

Any time, just remember to bring some extra bug juice. Them skeeters are fierce.

Looks like they'll be camping out in Cleveland, Mar.17-18.
They had their pits at the Olympic Kayak parking area on the Ocoee, and if I remember right we followed a bunch of them on 30 between stages.
It would be a blast to see them again.

I know she wants to.

I think I'll go check it out barring any unforeseen circumstances (new baby due the first week of April). Anyone else going? Bueller, Bman, anyone?

Let's do it.
Once we get the routes we can pick a spot in the woods, or campground nearby. Could always volunteer to be a course worker and get really close to the action.
