DVD For everyone else

I see the 950 wiennes started their thread, here's a thread for everyone else. Here's a teaser

Still uploading other pictures.... so you'll have to wait.

But first... This was my 5th and by far the BEST for ME. I got a lot of riding in, didn't drink too much and enjoyed the company of ~150 of my best friends. Good to see a bunch off AdvRiders to start the new riding season (not all 150 were AdvRiders but we were the majority in the camp ground)

Highlights...
Goler Wash/Mengal Pass
Riding Frank Fanto's Buell (me likey A LOT)
80 mph dirt!!!

More to come

Down... easy. I went SLOW cuz I was REALLY tired from the ride UP the other side. Had to have MAJOR help getting up Mengal Pass. After pushing a couple bike before me I couldn't do it... Mully took the controls to get the bike past the stair steps.

That and they had graded Goler recently ... Butte Valley Road was tougher in the lower sections.

Wingate Road was a HOOT! 70-80 MPH Flat Trackin' Woo Hoo!!!

One of our group hit 104 on his GPS on West Side Rd.
It's really cool that Death Valley doens't have any speed limits on dirt!

Cheers

Here's my DVD Story.

My plans had started out like this: Trucking the 640 and towing my Pop's Ural Patrol. Unfortunately the Ural wasn't able to make but I my Pop had never been to Death Valley before so I figured that he could still come along and cruise around in my 4x4. We arrived on Thursday and set up camp next to Gerg. After about an hour we managed to find Say4567 (Stephen), who was sitting in the next door in Gerg's campsite, and he was able to change out his rear with the tire that we brought for him.

The plan for Friday was for Stephen and I to ride down West Valley Rd. and try to make it to the Geologist's Cabin. My pop was going to follow us to the cabin in the truck. Along West Valley Rd. we were passed by Mully (sorry I missed the photo Mully)

AceRph

Rad

and Gerg

We stopped for a break at Warm Spring Mine(?) and checked out the scenery.

The road got rocky and rutted just south of this point so it started to become slow going for the truck. He was able to catch up to us here.

After a really fun section we finally made it to the valley where the Geologist's Cabin is.

The road that we came in on is just to the left of the antenna in this pic. Way on the other side of the valley.

So at this point we were going to turn around, but after talking to Mully, Gerg, Rad and AceRph we thought we'd give Mengal Pass a shot. We told my Pop that we were going to check out the pass and if we thought it was too difficult we would turn around and catch up with him. So he headed back down to West Valley Rd.

One wrong turn and we ended up a wash and had to turn around.

Here's a shot of the rocks on Mengal Pass. I came around the corner first and tried to make it over the rocks, but ended up nailing one dead on. We had to lift the bikes over this section.

Once through this it was pretty mellow. Here's some shots of Mengal Pass.

Looking back towards the Geologist's Cabin

Say4567 making it to the top after helping me out.

Mr. Mengal himself

Made it to the Barker Ranch!

Say4567 checkin' out the ranch. How about restoring this place?

Lots of crap in here

From here we cruised down the Goler Wash and made it to Ballarat.

After a long day it was time for a beer.

And Tri-Tip.

Day 2 to come.

Hi - don't mind the impatient nitwits; they can go read the 95o thread.

The ranger that we ran into on West Side Rd. made it very clear to us that the speed limit in the park was 25mph on the dirt, but he thought that West Side Rd. was 35mph.

Yup, the start of most of 'em say that... but we all went flying by the ranger on West Side. I kept watching my mirrors ...

I know, that's why he stopped to talk to us.

We left Furnace Creek Campground around noon. Stopped once for food and once for fuel. Home 6:32pm PST.

I had a great weekend. Lots of new faces, some of my favorites (those who couldn't be there know who you are) and several people I didn't get to meet at all. I'm glad a few other ladies attended too. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi at the Ace Base Camp.

I'm pretty tired and can't find my camera tonight. I'll see if there's anything on it worth posting tomorrow.
