PC-310? I'm beginning to lose faith in my current mechanic. I have the Oddysea installed and have thus far replaced the starter and next will be the rectifier to try and cure a sluggish intermittent starting/charging issue.
He does not have faith in the Oddysea but I know its not the battery because I've run FOUR! different batteries through this bike (2 yuasa and 2 Oddysea) without curing the problem. So you guys tell me....Does this PC310 start the bike fine once the installation hassles are overcome?
Could the rectifier coming in contact with the terminal cause problems as well? I suspect something is lacking continuity or grounding somewhere.
How many miles has your bike done?
Check the switch block for power leakage / short?
Check the Capacitor?
Price of a new Harness from KTM - $110.00 cheaper than a battery?
Sounds like a bad earth / broken wire somewhere in the harness.

Pezz :)

A few months ago I sold a 640 Rallye which i'd converted to electric start.
The guy who bought it from me has had a 'charging problem' bike hard to start. It kick starts easily. It appears it may have been the starter motor causing the problem . . . He put 12 volts directly on the starter and got sparks out of it. It must be drawing a lot of current.
Might be worth checking also . . . . .

Thanks for the suggestions....I've relayed them to the mechanic...so far I have a new starter motor and now he is putting in a new rectifier. If that ain't it, I got the rest of your list to pursue! I should note this sluggish starting/charging issue has been an issue since the bike was new. Wish I would have pursued it when the bike was under warranty but, it usually started (grudgingly).

Looks like a battery!

Not a perfect fit, but it could work.

A few strips of electrical tape to protect the Odyssey and we'll have to see if the battery hold down brachet rubs the battery.

Actually, the PC310 is smaller than the rubber battery container in the battery box, so I was able to push the battery towards the front of the bike and pad the contact point right at edge of the lump on top of the battery. I can't move the battery at all, so we'll have to see how it holds up.

Any further word on the install on an '03 640A?

Am looking for a thumbs up, down, or head for the hills from the other inmates because fitting the Odyssey PC-310 is a screaming biotch for what otherwise should be a straight forward install.

If you think McGyver could make it fit, I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'm tired of using the kicker if the bike sits for more than a day and need a new battery.

Question Yuasa/Odyssey..........that is the question????

Last year I replaced the stock lead acid battery in my V-Max, with an Odyssey and it's a much better battery and one that starts the bike with more authority.....

...but After 9 years the stock Yuasa YTX9-BS Battery needs to be replaced in my '98 RXC

Now if I understand correctly the Yuasa YTX9-BS Battery and the Odyssey PC-310 are both AGM batteries

What makes the Odyssey AGM a better battery than the Yuasa AGM.........

Compare and decide:

Yuasa specs:
http://www.yuasabatteries.com/batter...bID=B9&vID=891

Odyssey specs:
http://www.odysseyfactory.com/powerspecs.html
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc310.htm

So, I guess the jury is still out?

It looks like the Odyssey is not an exact fit and that makes it slightly less desirable than the Yuasa. How are the McGyver-types doing with the battery?

I ended up with the Yuasa battery for less than $50.00. My garages aren't heated and my one bike has an Odyssey and the KTM has the Yuasa and neither one had any problems starting,.... and with no battery tenders or chargers over the winter.

My stock Yuasa lasted 9 years,...... can't ask for more than that

Meat did you end up getting your PC310 to fit properly? And have there been any nasty vibration or rub issues on the terminals and wiring?

Also has anyone tried to fit one to an 05 Adventure? I know that KTM loves changing little things between years, did the battery boxes change from the 02/03's to the later models?

You fella's get some top prices, the best price in Aus atm is $225

cheers
