Best looking dakar I've ever seen. My dad has been talking about getting one of these for years and got on my case when I bought a 650 Xcountry. Anyone have both or ridden both extensively and want to comment? We are both 95% street, 5% dirt. He thinks he's 40% dirt but he hasn't been for 20 years.

there's quite a bit of room with the mounting bracket to accommodate the brake line. Only mod I had to do was to have the bar end weights cut down to 20mm or so otherwise the Acerbis guards won't fit. Clutch & brake levers just fit inside the guards with the 20mm bar end weights so I wouldn't get rid of them altogether. I had a local mechanic cut them down on his lathe and then I painted them with Tremclad semi-gloss enamel along with the instrument panel & signal light housings.

Love the 640 Adv fairing and other details. Post an update once in a while.

It now has a windscreen and a little 200 mile test trip. Working on rear rack on/off attachment as we speak. Thanks I will try to keep you posted.

I'd say the Dakar winds hands down with that tarmac/dirt ratio if having a 17 liter fuel tank, hard luggage and decent wind protection are important factors.

Since these pictures I rerouted the front brake hose, shortened the gearing (15x49), removed the mirrors and removed the RAM mount on the left hand side.

2002 stock with 19,680. No ABS or heated grips. Center stand added by PO. I just added the Wunderlich Low Ergo Saddle I bought from another inmate. Mucho more on the way.
