For the asking price I can't over look the flaws ( salvage title, too tall for me, no mirrors, hand gaurds, brake lights didn't work, and a few other issues) . But I was close on the price and wouldn't blame anyone for buying this bike for the asking price ($8500).
Since you were there did you see any of the Kevlar carbon rear splash guards laying around?

They had one of those too, but it is made to fit the aluminum rear sub frame, so I don't know if it would fit a standard f650. Ask when you call about the exhaust :)

Cheers for the info.

It's weird that they can't be bothered fixing the brake lights before selling it. At $8500 you'd kinda expect them to work..

I'm going to run with the new GSXR600 exhaust since I already paid for it ( very cheap and has never been used). I haven't heard of anyone using one on the Dakar yet but it's a popular mod on the DR650. I think I'll be breaking new ground with this one. Will post a picture when done (if it turns out ok that is)

I would have expected everything to work and for the bike to have mirrors installed ( it's not like they don't sell those parts). There was a brocken turn signal (hanging from the wires) that they didn't replace either. This deal apeared to get worse as time went by. They removed some parts form the spare parts that originaly were to be included. Originaly I think they would bave been keen to fix some of the issues with the bike, but as time went by I think the got to thinking what a killer deal they though $8500 was and that it was sold as is. I think I just hurt thier feelings offering them $7K. Maybe if someone else was interested they might be able to have all these issues fixed.
Personally I'm done with this bike.

Like I said, there was a F650RR for sale on eBay a while back. Was listed here too. I test rode it. it sold in eBay for $8500 and it was perfect with all the receipts and a service book going to back it's purchase date in 2001. I had stars in my eyes from the fuel capacity on that thing.

The 18 inch rear wheel really makes the bike look nicer. one of woodys 3.5x18 is going to be on the way soon.

Two differant frames on these bikes so although any center stand could be made to fit it's not going to bolt on. secondly the Dakar requires a taller center stand than a standard F650

I have a center stand from a 2003 F650gs that I will sell you for $60 shipped to the lower 48. You will need to lengthen it to make it work properly, but it will bolt on.
