Conti TKC80 120/70B17 180/55B17 in stock.

Now I can run the TKC up front and retain the standard Ulysses mud guard thanks to the 120/70 lower profile. These tires have a "B" code which must stand for Buell. Good on you Continental - Top Job.

That looks damn good. How does it handle with the knobs?

I suspect that bike will evaporate a Conti TKC-80.

I was very surprised with the handling. I usually ride an XRR off road which is really fantastic. I can push the Buell almost as quick as the XR and the tires do a fantastic job. The rear tire being so large 180 brakes very well. Its like throwing out an anchor. Just rips into the gravel. The weight of the bike might have something to do with that. The front has a lot of grip. I thought it might slide about a bit but its very sure footed. I like it and will continue to use it off road. LOVE the torque coming out of corners on a gravel road - loads of fun.

Cheers

Only had them on the bike 2 weeks. Looking good so far but Im holding back on the bitumen to preserve them. I am hoping to get around 4000klm out of a set. If I can I will be happy with that. About the same as a Guzzi Stelvio I hope.

Cheers

I'm considering trading my 2006 Suzuki V-Strom for an 09 XT. I have owned two prior Uly's but know they have issues. Anything in particular I should look for on the XT with 18,000 on it? Neither of the other two Buells made it to that mileage before wrecking or selling.

Sounds like if you can avoid wrecking or selling the '09, everything should be fine.

Well I have figured out what NOT to do as for wrecking the bike. I went from a much lighter(by comparison) KLR to an 06 XB12X. Then I also had a dizzy spell while riding and went down. I bought an 09 XB12XP In 2009 but ran into some financial issues so I had to sell and take a huge loss but it went to a fellow inmate that was looking for that exact bike so I was happy. I meant bearing issues, front fork issues ECM issues stuff like that.

There are plenty of Ulys out there over the 18k mark. My 2008 Uly XT is at 27k right now and just seems to run better/smoother the more miles I put on it.

All years of the Uly have the same basic weak spots: wheel bearings, front brake pulsing, ECU placement, poor electrical grounds, engine heat on right leg.... I must be missing one but can't think of it right now. A quick search over on badweatherbikers.com will set you up with all the info you need on the Uly.

Since this is the picture thread....here's one from our Indiana Covered Bridges trip last summer:
