Scouting flood waters a few weeks ago.

Crossing the Bolivia bridge(pronounced ball-i-vee) near Bolivia, Il.

09 XT with Madstad shield, some highway pegs the previous owner had made, and a cup holder he added that I just can't bring myself to remove.

My XT is thrush blue. Not the worst color for a Uly. I just need to do a fender conversion to the higher fender.

Arches National Park - frankly, I am shocked the Buell hasn't overheated The fan is retarded and obnoxious but it apparently does its job. We paraded through Arches when it was like 104 degrees out.

I'm on a trip from western Washington to Austin, TX. Went through SW Colorado and northern New Mexico through to Roswell today. Clicked over 50,000 miles halfway across the Bonneville Salt Flats on Sunday.

Great scenery, awesome picture. That EBR timing cover is sweet, too bad I have an 09 and can't get one of those.

And speaking of overheating, how hot is ok? Today was the first time I've ridden my XT in really warm conditions(upper 80's). My frame was fairly hot to the touch, like uncomfortably hot. I probably couldn't keep my hand on it for more than a minute or so. That got me to thinking about the fact that it's full of gas, and high temps might not be very good. Am I worrying over nothing?

The ECM will go into a skip spark mode when it gets really hot. It purposely fires half as much to allow the fuel to cool things off. Unless you have had this happen, you should be OK.

My bike runs damn hot, but when I log the temps with my tuner they are always within reason. A full tank of gas is safer than an empty one. Liquid fuel won't ignite, but the fumes sure will. If it was a problem Buell would be outta business... wait a minute.

Upper 80's is not to bad, I rode 5 days in the deep south a few years ago in 100 plus weather, I bumped the frame with my leg and I thought I touched the exhaust

Temp as I got off the bike in Stockton Alabama

I have only had my bike do that 2 times, both in hi 90's while moving very slowly in traffic jams. You think the Buell shakes when they run normal, It is like being on a rubber mounted jack hammer when it is on cylinder skip

This is the picture thread ....

I literally have a 1st degree burn on my right calf from all the heat the pipes throw off. It hasn't hit skip fire once on this trip and I was parading through Arches on a 104 degree day. It can get very hot and be fine. I'm not even burning excessive oil (at 50k it burns some though). I won't worry about the bike in 70f Seattle traffic ever again.

I put grip pads on the frame and I wear riding pants. Those help a lot. I'm thinking of getting the heat blanket.
