Iceland
For anyone considering Iceland, I've found this site:
http://www.ourfootprints.de/gps/mapsource-island_e.html http://www.ourfootprints.de/gps/down...rce-island.zip I've no idea if it is any good, but it would appear to be. It certainly seems to have more detail than Garmin World Map.

Thanks for that post. We may be going next year and started thinking about the logistics and this will help.

The Ring Road (the one in blue) is paved (most of the time.) A volcanic eruption in the south (fairly frequent) will wash it out. The rest of the roads are probably not paved. Set aside as much time as you possibly can. There is so much to see and do there, I don't know where to start. Linky to tourist site.

Very cool. I was there in 79 while in the Navy. Really neat place, big city or town here, go a few miles and your in like the precambrian period. Very interesting place. Do or did you guys ship your bikes or rent? How much does a trip like that go for today?

This map is exactly what I am looking for! I am actually planning to ride across Iceland this summer, and I am really excited about it. This will be my first trip there, so if anyone has any advice for me, I would love to hear it. Thank you very much.

It is a very helpfull map, we used it 2 years ago and also added a few hiking trails to it. You can plan your route and see how much rivers you need to cross. All F roads are unsealed roads. The inland gives you the real Icelandic experiance. The F910 was the best one.
Here we crossed are river in our renta car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYcT2W-n_WM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua0jGC0mewM
