Deal's Gap/Cherohala road conditions

Has anyone ridden the Cherohala Skyway / Deal's Gap in the last week or so? Thinking about riding up there tomorrow, wanted to know if the roads were still covered with sand/gravell.

Yes, it is : I consider myself quite fortunate to be able to day ride the North Georgia/Western NC and Eastern TN playgrounds.

No fair Dan...you can't ride up there!

No way Dan! you are not allowed to ride up there with out me!

Did we get the bike all repired? Take Steve with you and do warm up for the VRSI gathering... actually head up to Hot Springs to see how far that is and then we can better plan to hit the ADV rider gathering that same weekend!

Good to see you on the many forums! Jorge

Hi Jorge: I taped up what is left of the turn signal housing with some electrical tape, that will work until I get flushmounts. Did almost 300 miles on Wednesday, combination of paved and dirt, 70 degrees and empty roads - too bad you couldn't have joined me - it was a blast!

I was just there yesterday! I live in Dawsonville...
The roads were clear... no gravel... 60 to 68 (Tellico/was 70 degrees) to Robinsville... Deal's Gap... and back... one of my favorite 300 mile loop). It could have not changed in one day!

Have fun...

Ara

Thanks, guys! I am heading up there this morning and looking forward to it. The Cherohala is one of my all time favorite roads.

March is the BEST time to hit these roads. No tourista yet, and if you catch it right, pure pleasure. I was there last year, on the way to Barber for a track day. Caught the gap at dawn, and didn't see a car or bike for the entire Dragon ride. Just have to be careful to watch for deer!

The Cherohala, early in the morning, when the sun is just coming up, is breathtaking:
