Wink Geeks of wheels!

Ladies and gentleman I think you'll all agree my cockpit is the most interesting!

I find a cluttered view gets in the way of the ride and getting lost is all part of the fun!

You big bunch of geeks you !

Mine is positively bare compared to the rest:

On the left mirror stalk a PTT button for my intercom, a Sigma BC 800 bicycle computer, an ABS kill-switch to switch off my ABS while riding, a Throttle Rocker and a Caterpillar O-ring throttle lock...

Photo's of your bikes Cockpit

Lets see the view of your bikes cockpit. I know some of you have some crazy setups with all sorts of electronics, shelves, ram mounts, radars, etc. so show them off. I will start out. I know it's not much but it works for me now. If there is already a thread on this I apologize. I did use the search button but found nothing..

I thought you meant the VIEW from the cockpit! I guess I'm a minimalist, I'm just fine with the few gizmos that came stock on the bike, like the speedo :

Or where the cockpit is pointed:

I must be getting old. I have an AutoCom system that allows me to make voice-dialed phone calls through my cell phone as I ride, but I've never even hooked it up; the last thing I want to do when riding is yak on the phone. I have never used a GPS, Smart Phone, SPOT Locator, radar detector, whatever and really don't see a need to festoon my bike with them. I celebrate your desire to do so with your bike, and I appreciate that there are some seriously cool gizmos on the market today, but as the saying goes, I prefer to get lost the old fashioned way by using paper maps. By the way, radar detectors are illegal in Virginia and GPS doesn't work too well on the really fun roads, many of which have big yellow signs that say "this route not recommended for GPS routing" because they are so twisty.

I'm not totally against instrumentation - I have to admit that I miss a tachometer when I ride a bike that doesn't have one, and it's always nice to know how much fuel you've got left in the tank.

So, what is all that stuff??

Doug
