Dual Sport Ride Saturday 3/11/2006

Anyone planning any dual sporting this Saturday in the Charlotte to Morganton area ?

Found a fellow KLR owner who wants to get out and play.

I almost missed your post.

I am planning on getting out on Saturday 3/11. I hope to make a day of it.

The weather forecast looks good.

Cheers

Is this the same ride posted on the KLR board by Critter?

Yeah that's me Jamie.
Just me and my neighbor on our KLR's so far.
Depending if John is in or not will determine when we can get started.
I'd really like to ride some of those nice gravel twistys north of Morganton.
Especially Maple Grove Church Rd. and any others up around Brown Mountain Beach road.
I'm hoping some other locals will chime in with suggestions.
Slightly overcast and in the 70's sounds like an awesome day.

Will you firm up your plans here or on the KLR board?

I'm sure we'll find something.

As soon as we have any confirmations, besides myself and my neighbor, and hopefully Jamie, we'll sure to post updates at both sites
Where were you planning on riding ?

Thats cool, sorry I couldnt make your last outing Gaston, but I bet you know all the great gravel and fire roads up that way.
Whatcha got in mind for Saturday ?

Two of my folks bailed but Jamie may still be in, and I am definitely getting an early start up your way via Old Hwy 18. Hopefully some other will speak up.
Did we mention great weather ??? :uhhuh

I'm easy. I'm just looking to tag along with someone. I'm always up for Maple Grove. I wouldn't mind dropping into the North Fork. Due to my inattentiveness, I didn't get to do it last time. It should be dried out and not so freakin slippery.

Sounds good to me. Not familliar with the North Fork, is that a river or a trail ?

I know you live close by so when did you want to get started ?
It will probably take me at least 90 mins to get up there, so if I left at 8:00
I could roll into Morganton about 9:30-9:45.
Is that too late for you ?

That would be fine. I could meet you in Morganton. However, if you are coming up 321, I could meet you more in the Lenoir direction. Morganton is not exactly on the straightest line to Maple Grove Church Rd.

I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully this rain tonight will be enough to take the dust off.

Cheers

That sounds fine Gaston, why don't you pick the meet place since you are most familliar with that area, I can always ride Old 18 on the way home.

Still waiting to see if ayone else speaks up

I'm sorry. I have to admit that I have not been fully attending to what you have written when I reply. I just assumed that you would go on 321 because I never travel between here and Charlotte on a motorcycle. I wouldn't want to ride up 321 either.

You have the ride before and after, so lemme know which way you intend to come out this way, and I can name a landmark then we can start thumping from there.
