Gaspipe - Sierra Madre - Mexico 2005

The baby heads under the water were unsettled and moving around due to high water flow from the storm of the prior evening. The shifting and slipping was very unpredicable,

Dang, dirtrider - your buddy was sure in a pickle.

Any pics of the recovery and engine 'clean-out' phase?

Hey BDG - Any airbox mods and special electrical sealing? My airbox would have gone on a liquid diet at that depth.

A few seconds later after that my boot tapped the shifter from second to nuetral just about when the first pic was snapped, amazing how fast you stop in water and big rocks when your not in gear :) ...

Rio Cano Negro, Costa Rica

So there we were, one month ago today, crossing the Rio Cano Negro near the volcano Arenal in Costa Rica. Todd went first and since there weren't any crocodiles chasing him, I followed. The riverbed was covered with rocks the size and shape of footballs. About two thirds of the way across, Todd stopped. He's dismounted in this photo and I'm approaching him.

Apparently he'd hit a rock just wrong and it had removed his chain from the rear sprocket. NFW were we going to push that bike over those rocks to the other side if there was any chance of it getting there under its own power. The chain slipped right back on and Todd completed the crossing.
