Ideally I'm looking to sublet a room for the Summer on the north side of Manhattan - Harlem/Morningside/Columbia, Upper West, etc.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
If you are looking to sublet, unfortunately, I think cl is your best option. Well, technically word of mouth is always the best way to find an apt in NYC, but that's pretty tough.

I have mine taped to the inside of the right handguard on my GS. Never had a problem.

I'd think that EZ Pass would automatically and easily withdraw money as needed, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
You're not saying what kind of problems exactly. If the messages you get at the tolls make you think it's an accounting problem, set your account to use a credit card. Yes there will be a little float. Get over it. Or go get a shack in Montana and finish your manifesto.

As for folks having questions about mounting and positioning for reliable E-Z Pass usage, what you all have to bear in mind is that the E-Z Pass is a radio transponder with a directional antenna talking to a transceiver with polarized beam antenna. The overhead transmitter sends a signal to the transponder and the transponder sends a signal back. Because of the proximity of adjacent toll lanes these things need to be finicky about radio signal directionality.

Look at how the thing is oriented when you follow the directions to mount one in a car's windshield. The closer you can come to doing that, the better off you will be. The side with the adhesive strips should be up and/or forward and the top edge should be on top or facing you.

If you have the E-Z Pass inside or behind something, bear in mind that not all materials (including yourself) are equally transparent to 900 MHz radio waves and we're talking about very low signal strengths to begin with.

Another weird thing that most folks without an RF electronics background would never imagine, is that proximity of metals and even some non-metals behind the tag (not between the tag and the overhead antenna) can also affect how the antenna operates.

Can I mount it sideways on the side of the inside of the windscreen or does it need to be center?

Get one of these. You don't need an Aerostich for it to work on your left sleeve. Get in the right tire track going through the toll, since the sensor is in the center of the lane. You get to stay off the greasy center, and it works 100% of the time.

I'll check with my sister-in-law if her apt on 100 and west end is available.

John...I didn't climb at all this weekend, so I hadn't checked on that Rover for you. Hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday if no one else does.

Ez pass worked like a charm. On a side note I got a police escort through the tunnel I was convinced I was due for a paperwork inspection but maybe they just ran my plates and everything came back ok. Back in the city

A chain? for Harlem? Try something like this.

John, I can probably swing past the place today or tomorrow if you need. PM or text me if so.

i was in boston over the weekend.

i was walking the north end with my wife and guess what i saw?

motorcycle/scooter specific parking!

here is a link:

"City of Boston Expands Scooter and Motorcycle parking Program"

http://www.cityofboston.gov/news/default.aspx?id=5820

there is no excuse that nyc/manhattan is not more friendly towards two wheeled vehicles.

ymmv.

be well.
