new mercedes tech

I was pleasantly surprised this morning on my "spirited" commute via the bqe. Coming up behind a Mercedes SUV, I saw a little red triangle appear in the side mirror of the side I was just about to pass. It went away when I passed by.

Seems they installed some proximity sensors to the rear bumper corners that warn you before you change lanes, or if, as in my case, someone else is occupying that space already.

Meant for motorcycles and lane filtering? Probably not, but I'll take it!!

I think a lot of cars have that. I had a rented Mazda pseudo SUV and it did it as well. It also made an audible sound in the cabin.

So you're saying we can hang around in the blind spot and drive cagers nuts?

Eventually, they'll just assume the technology is broken, and merge into you.

Tough way to get a free cup of coffee.

I think she thanked him by getting him wet.

I kinda like the NYC traffic cops. They let me lane split all weekend long when I visited. It that the norm?

I was waiting in the far left lane to make a left turn onto 42nd street and one pulled up next to me and said, and I quote. "Fucking pay attention, this a two way street" and proceeded on.

Don't try that in my 'hood. There is an undercover cop who patrols between Amsterdam and the HH Parkway between 125-135 and he has a hard on for bikes. He patrols in two unmarked cars, one dark metallic blue and one black, both made up to look like gypsy cabs. I have been pulled over twice by this guy for "lane splitting"(never cited or recieved a ticket since he has no real reason) near Fairway when there are actually no marked lanes and all the cages make it two lanes. He gives you a full tear down etc and is quite rude. I have seen him pull over several other bikes too.

The guy is a real reactionary.

You have been warned.
