I've found a way to change it, for me anyway - but thanks for the input.

cheers

Air filter oil?

Anyone know of a shop that would stock air filter oil? I normally use No Toil, but I don't have time for mail-order (and just realized I forgot to re-stock). I called Soho Triumph, Brooklyn Aprilia, Moto Bogotaro, Prospect Cycles, and got tired of calling around.

Try:

http://www.motorgrrl.com/

Also, I might have a K&N recharge kit at home, despite the fact that I don't own any K&N filters anymore (and probably won't, again).

You can use motor oil. That's what you put on old-school foam filters, and it's probably largely what K&N is selling you anyway.

Filter oil is way stickier than motor oil; I'd only use that as a last resort. I guess I can try K&N... for some reason, I always thought their filter oil was not-so-great, especially compared to No Toil. I probably read it on the web a long time ago, and just figured it was true (like everything else on the web).

Edit: I went to Pep Boys (because it's the closest auto place) and I saw the K&N oil. It appears to be made for K&N filters which are not like foam filters. I'm guessing it's good for that style filter, but I'm not buying it for foam.

You want sticky? How about chain saw bar oil? Or bike chain lube?

Both way stickier than motor oil.

Last time I bought air filter oil it was either from New York Honda Yamaha or Primoto in LIC, or it was from D&M in Woodside, don't recall which of the three. Most likely the first two.

FYI I determined last year that Primoto is the only place in NYC that has 5wt fork oil. ;-)

Huh, I have been commuting through and riding in in DC year round for the past 12 years and have never seen a MOC. Guess i am just lucky!

One thing this thread has done for me is give me an intense aversion to ever riding in NYC

Improvements to the Checkpoint Alert System

The Checkpoint Alert System now has an additional easier way to subscribe to text alerts on your cellphone!

Due to some people's reluctance to sign up for Twitter in order to receive text alerts from the CAS, you may now subscribe by sending a text message to the NYMSTF number (347-410-6783). The text message MUST follow this format:
SUBSCRIBE CAS 7185551234@textgateway.com
The "7185551234@textgateway.com" part must be the email address your telephone uses to receive texts by email. If you're not sure what that is, you can check this Wiki page. It is going to be your phone number @ the mail domain your telephone company uses for its SMS to email gateway.

For example, if your telephone number is 212-555-7890 and your cellphone uses AT&T service, you would send the following text to the NYMSTF:
SUBSCRIBE CAS 2125557890@txt.att.net
A Verizon cellular subscriber at 718-555-4321 would send the following text to the NYMSTF:
SUBSCRIBE CAS 7185554321@vtext.com
For T-Mobile please ignore the Wiki recommendation to use a 1 before your phone number. I actually need to test T-Mobile so if someone wants to be a guinea pig please PM me.

This is not limited to the example service providers I listed.

To remove your CAS subscription, simply text the NYMSTF with the message "UNSUBSCRIBE CAS". If you ever get rid of your phone number for whatever reason, please unsubscribe first. If you forget to do this and remember after you no longer have a phone with that number, please e-mail us and we'll update our database manually.

As for the text in these messages, don't worry about case. UPPER CASE, lower case, mIxEd CaSe, makes no difference. The important part is to get the spelling correct and the SMS gateway email address correct.

Ride safe,
Brad

The mayor probably snorted the funds.
