Act Two. Is That a Tape Recorder in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Unhappy to See Me?

For 17 months, New York police officer Adrian Schoolcraft recorded himself and his fellow officers on the job, including their supervisors ordering them to do all sorts of things that police aren't supposed to do. For example, downgrading real crimes into lesser ones, so they wouldn't show up in the crime statistics and make their precinct look bad. Adrian's story first appeared as a five part series in the Village Voice, written by Graham Rayman. Schoolcraft's website looking for other cops to come forward is here. (41 minutes)

Crazy right? I've been following the story.

Let's just keep calling him Paco.

Last Minute Track Day!

If anyone is interested, Absolute Cycle Experience is running a special price for a trackday at NJMP/Thunderbolt for Monday (8/19). For only $135, and NO MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED, you can do a whole day there.

http://www.absolutecycle.com/racesho...ategory_id=146

That's a good deal! Usually, it's maybe $100 more, membership included.

Anyway, I signed up -- so if you go, just look for the Sasquash in the blue textile suit and orange helmet, on the KTM 950 SMR.

i hate this fuckin' city.

i can order a gas powered chainsaw with a 16" bar from woot and have it shipped to work or home. i cannot order a pocket knife with a 3" blade and have it shipped here.

do you think they have random mandatory profiled chainsaw "inspection" checkpoints as well as motorcycle checkpoints? do you think i'd catch any flak for walking around the city with a running chainsaw? #temptedtotry

i bet you will be able to walk further without getting pulled over with a chainsaw in manhattan than on a motorcycle

That doesn't make sense. Either the vendor is retarded or you didn't mention you were ordering a switchblade.

I can see you've figured out a more efficient and reliable way to cut through traffic, there.

So woke up this to a call from NYPD seventy something precinct that they have recovered my SV 650 has been recovered from a garage they raided. Apparently they were working on it and it only missing part of the rear. They are gonna charge the garage owner / guy working on it with grand theft auto. Waiting on the call from the DA.

Somewhere on the Internet there is a garage owners' forum, and its inmates are griping about police overreach and illegal searches.

(Good news! )
