Maybe give a trusted local mechanic/garage a shot.

Watch out for places like Mavis, which often try a lot of up-sell for brake jobs, suspension boots and pieces, etc. It's OK if you really need the work but you gotta watch 'em.

If you're looking for specific rubber that isn't typically stocked nearby maybe experiment with Tire Rack and their local installer optin.

If you're looking for tires I never had a bad experience with Mavis. I look up price on Tire Rack and add the cost of installation and balance than go to Mavis, ask for the price on the same tire and let them do their sale talk. When they're done I just tell I will not pay more than the Tire Rack Price. Plus their warranty is good to. I blew a tire on my car once Upsate NY, found local Mavis and got a new one for a fraction of the cost.

FWIW I'm not saying the tire experience was bad at Mavis, just the up-sells.

I get my tires from Costco but that's not an option for everyone. At least for the rubber I use it's a good bit cheaper than Tire Rack, it gets me regular rotation service (including re-balancing), free flat repair all over the country and they can't up-sell because all they do is tires. They aren't even allowed to accept tips.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went to a few local spots in Queens, but their prices were quite high. Ill check the ones posted, I would rather keep it local than deal with tirerack. Thanks again all, ill check out those spots first.

Now let's hope this spring comes sooner than later, I am itching to get back on the bike.

I have had good success with Whitey's on Atlantic Ave. Not sure if it is Brooklyn or Queens there, but close to the border.

hey guys I am new around here

I have a quick question, anyone ever bought a bike with a Garage lien and not title?

I bought a bike from a shop, they did the lien but didnot want to spend money to fix it/get it inspected/get title. I bought the bike to part it out but the bike is in fairly good shape so if I can get the title I would love to get it on the road

Tire Mounting

Is there any place in the city that will mount tires that you bring in? Or at least a place that comes close to online pricing for tires?
I'm looking to get probably K-60 Scouts or TKC-80's. I know I'm going to need to change tires at least twice this year and looking to keep costs down.

Thanks

...which also happens to do rim straightening.

Probably a very popular place right now.
