Stolen DRZ400 in brooklyn

Hey guys, just putting out the notice for my stolen 2000 drz400. Taken from Greenpoint last night, thieves broke into the lot, took off the cover and likely threw it in the back of a van. Plate #48sB02

A reminder to everyone that if someone wants it bad enough, they'll get it. In my case, a heavier lock on the gate, and setting up somewhere to lock my bike to inside the lot could have made the difference.

Here's what it looks like:

There's an android app called "best parking" you can find free street parking that way.

keep an eye out in the area, know a guy who had a drz stolen when he was parked in chinatown overnight. found in greenpoint/w-burg in the following weeks near where he works. though it's more then likely being wheelied during those hooligan rides.

Not getting a goodbye wheelie is the saddest feeling

Sorry to hear about it. I thought the cold and the semi-crackdown on bikes would make this year a little safer. I had a couple of bikes disappear myself in the last few years.

Last year mine was found about 3 weeks later in the Bronx, missing stickers/graphics (and replaced my valid plate with an expired plate) but pretty much intact. They did add some bling-bling LED engine lighting though.
I think that at this time of the year bikes, especially dirt/dualsport/supermoto bikes are stolen to be ridden, not stripped.

If they want it they'll find a way, all we can do is try to make it harder on them and carry theft insurance.

They have paved the west bound cross bronx, sad though if one were too hit one of the deep truck gouges in the asphalt just right one could get some air

depends on if there isn't any plastic attatched to the bolt anywhere. if there isn't, a small torch. if there is, try a soldering iron and try to get just the nut as hot as possible. the heat softens the locktite and allows you to get the bolt out pretty easy.

Ben - sorry to hear your DRZ got stolen and hope you had some kind of comprehensive insurance on it. I remember your DRZ was pretty well "used" and I immediately recognized it from your first picture.

Can you be more specific on the parts that are scraped up? The plastics and stickers may be taken off the bike, but the scraped up handguards, clutch lever, and other bits probably will stay the same and may be easier to spot.
