Those things aren't composed of latex or wax. But nice try.

PS, they left with about as little fanfare as they arrived.

I had to look that up. Holy $#!+ that sounds creepy.

The SUV driver was solo and plainclothes though. Which is kinda' f***ed up in a few of its own ways but never mind.

PS, I just ran a few numbers and came up with a few interesting statistics...

I estimate the noise from this contraption to be at least 81 dB-A @ 1m, not including reverberation from the cabinet and turbulence noise generated by surfaces interfering with the fans' airflow. That's close to the exhaust noise from my VFR at idle.

Peak power consumption would be around 700 Watts, with a peak demand of nearly 50 Amps on the 12 Volt rail. That's in the neighborhood of the starting current required for a 750cc 4-cylinder motorcycle engine, as well being in the vicinity of low-end arc welders.

I probably shouldn't get too carried away about the power demands. There are video game addicts out there using pairs of high-end GPUs in tandem, that consume that much power during peak loads independent of the rest of the computer components.

The comments are interesting! Not all are perfectly informed. Apparently these drives are TLER capable (even if not truly optimal for RAID use), and the noise from the multitude of 1200 RPM fans would be surpassed by drive noise and become insignificant in the total noise picture.

Lastly, that amounts to nearly 2400 BTUs not including the rest of the hardware, so I think that sucker oughta' have a heat duct routing the exhaust air to an outdoor vent!

If any of you FFs have an extra $6-700,000 laying around, you might be interested in the Brough Superior for sale in NY.

All year round baby, all year!!! but not from LI.... slightly colder by me in the morning.

I did ride behind a guy with a BMW (K series) yesterday. Not too many riders out there with this weather.
