I even got a talking-to in front of the 112th Precinct because I had a loaf of bread hung from my left side mirror. I stood my ground and amazingly they backed down but another fellow was not so lucky.

Remember: If you see something say something. Send a text to 347-410-MSTF starting with the word "checkpoint" followed by a descriptrion of the location when you see a police checkpoint that is targeting motorcycles specifically.

EDIT: PS, I was informed that the alerts have been wonky lately. I have been working hard to rectify the issues and as of about 3pm today all the kinks have been worked out, and reliability and latency from here onward will be hugely improved.

so that was you that posted the 112th precinct alert?

either way, unless the 112th precinct is on 112 street the updates are worthless. even then a cross street is a huge help.

willie bridge manhattan bound. one of 2 spots, easily figured out.
van wick @ jackie. one spot can't miss
112 precinct = avoid the whole area?!?

what so you consider wonky? haven't seen an update in months other than yesterday and today

Well it's been a quiet winter but a service we depended on for the connection to Twitter disappeared without warning so I'm not even sure when things broke exactly.

If you look at the RSS feed you'll see that you probably missed an alert on June 12 (as well as the FDR alert yesterday) and the only one before that this year was back in March.

Anyway that dependency has been eliminated altogether and the data flow streamlined, so things should be good now and time between you sending an alert and it going out via Twitter should be half what it was on average.

Eek vandalism

Has anyone else been having issues with frequent bike knock overs and or vandalism on the upper east side. My commute has turned to hell the last 2 months with folks knocking my bike over. Fortunately, for me some kind soul has picked it up to the upright position by the time I get out of work.

Tonight was the icing on the cake. I get to my bike and find it on the center stand with the side stand ripped off sitting along side the bike.....WTF. I go to get my helmet out of the top case and the top case has been totally destroyed.

I figure there must have been some major accelaration to do this kind of damage.

Anyway... Anyone know a good welder?

Wow! Have you been parking on the street? I hate to say it, but maybe it's time to start parking on the sidewalk and removing your plates!! That is just insane.

...and that's why i can't bring myself to leave the bike in that city.
at least it sounds like you gave up and made peace with that sort of parking/lifestyle.

Yep. I have been parking on the street. Not sure what I will do from here forward. Just know I won't be ridin tomorrow

Have a great ride tomorrow.

Yes. I was parked on 91st and 1st and came back to a flat. Never found the sharp; the valve was damaged but that could have been from ooching it to the shop. Still seemed fishy. Next day my mirror was snapped off. Not possible to have been done by a braille parker from the angle i parked at. T'was pure vandalism. Fuckers.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your bike, though. I can't comprehend what kind of fucktard would think to do such a thing.
