Thanks Existent80. I'm just glad your t-shirt showed up, Not many of them did in the end!

Won't hang around NY too long. Depends on when I get the bike. If I'm still here Tuesday I'll definitely head to that biker night on the west side of Manhatten. But either way I should be around on the weekend, sight seeing and stuff.

... I've got to buy some shorts cos I packed them all on the bike, and if that doesn't come til next week I think my legs will melt. Hot here!!

Get a Muni Meter ticket?

Hey All --

A reporter is doing an article about the problems of parking a motorcycle in Muni-meter zones. By TONIGHT she needs the details (your name & rough date of incident) of at least one person who received such a ticket.

Please PM me right now if you have a story!

Thanks!

Not much of a story. I've actually been lucky until recently... 6/28 around 1pm, Lexington Ave south of 57th Street.

Come on down to central park to watch Marvel take on DC in the annual softball game today at 5:30. It's at north meadow field two, next to central park west and 96th. We have a 5 year winning streak and today should be no different!

Will you all be in costume? How hot is Wonder Woman? Super Girl? Should be fun to watch if so.

Good luck!

nice commuter bike

This bike parks next to me sometimes. Does this belong to one of you? What is it? A Yamaha something...

Seems like a nice little bike for the city.

Looks a little like an XT225, but they come with rectangular headlights. And the side covers are different, so not an XT.

That's an XT250 with the decals removed. In 2008, it replaced the XT225 here in the states.

I was told by a fellow commuter that motorcycles get some kind of pass if parked on a block with construction restrictions. I Don't believe it, but I could be wrong. Has anyone heard of this?

This is the kind of thing that probably starts off with someone getting away with doing something for a while and deciding it's de facto legal.

Don't bet on it.

A lot of times you'll see construction guys parking their bikes within the barriers of a project but that's the benefit of working for the contractor.

The person who told me that had received a ticket for parking on the sidewalk next to a construction site. He was adamant that he fought it and won due to an existing regulation. He couldn't tell me the exact ordinance so I'm asking if anyone has heard of it. I park on the sidewalk regardless.

Here's an interesting bit about which signs are legit and which aren't:

http://imnotsayin.blogspot.com/2009/...ing-signs.html

But it doesn't make sense to me that construction = free-for-all on the sidewalk.

Hey guys, anyone have a chain press I can borrow for a few hrs? I lent mine to a friend for a trip and promptly lost it.

I did buy a full kit, which is somewhere in the blackhole of a garage I share.....

3 days of searching and it is nowhere to be found.

I started a separate thread but realise it's probably best to post on here.

Just arrived in NY, shipping a bike (same CT110 as I rode from Sydney) here which should land in tomorrow. Staying in a hostel somewhere in Brooklyn, near Rockaway Parkway station. Hoping to get on the road by the weekend.

Just need to sort a few things; like camping gear. But also insurance.

Wondered if anyone knew of a decent Progressive agent in Brooklyn. I believe they're one of few brokers that'll cover foreign nationals.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Nathan

Welcome, if you need any assistance let us know! AIG \ Dairyland cycle is generally much cheaper, give them a call and see if they do foreign bikes. I can call and check if you like.
