North to Alaska

I'll be moving to Kenai in the coming weeks to start my new job. I cant wait to get out of California. I could list the reasons why but its boring, everyone knows why. I'll just say that I will not poision AK with my Californianess. It's leaving me at the state line.

I look foward to everything. My wife is preganant so I'll soon have a child. I still find it a bit frightening but it is outweighed by my excitement. I can't begin to tell you what it means to be able to buy a house. Which currently I cant afford to do. Knowing that I will be able to put a roof over my wife and childs head is an enormous weight lifted. Things have really come together in the last few months.

It all started when I bought my motorcycle. Who woulda thunk. See ya all soon.

Stu

Hey StuAce - You're gunna' miss Monterey. You'll miss that little burger shack on the fish pier. You'll miss squid n' eggs at Gradma's Kitchen in Seaside. You'll miss the smell of winter Eucalyptus. You'll miss fresh Castroville Artichokes. You'll miss low tide. Heck, you'll even miss summer fog and that harbor horn sounding all night long.

Back in the 80's, I drug up my family and left Monterey for similar reasons. The money part worked out, but I'm not sure it was worth the trade.

Good luck in Alaska. I'll be ridin' thu in August to see it for myself.

Hey Stu, congrats on apparently getting the job. And also congrats on the escape from Kali....

I was down in the bay area last month for a couple weeks. It's fun for a week or two and then I'm ready to get back, cold and snow notwithstanding.

There will be adjustments....no biggie. You still get low tide in Kenai! Just wait until you drag your first salmon out of the Kenai river, take it home and butterfly it over the barbeque in your back yard, the one with trees, birds and moose and even the odd caribou. Or the clear night when you see the milky way and the northern lights. Monterry will seem a million miles away.

Thanks for all the welcomes. The wife and I are really happy. We should be moving mid April. Start the job on May 1st.

There are things I will miss about living down here. Obviously, there will be some adjustments. But, I'm so ready. I think I'm moving at a good time too. With spring starting. There will be a little adjustment time before next winter.

What are the details of this gathering in Wasilla?
