dam

No bike in this picture but I did repel into this dam with 3 buddies and kayak it about 3 yrs ago. You hit the hole at the bottom and you and kayak sore about 40-50 ft lengthwise, 10 ft in the air. fun, but would not do it now.

This one doesn't look as impressive as those, but the damage that happened when it overflowed last fall sure was. Alstead NH

Looking down the dam face.

It's not the dam, but it sure is pretty... I am standing on the dam, however

Seven Oaks Dam

Built to withstand both a 100 year flood and a 8.2 earthquake Seven Oaks Dam holds back one of two mountain streams that feed the Santa Ana River.

It sure is hard to get a good picture of.

Lac de Mont Cenis in the french Alps, near to the italian border.
The retaining wall is not made of concrete but of the rock of the area. And there's even a motorcycle on it. If you look closely, you can tell it's a KTM 450 EXC.

The lake seen from a different angle and height. The straight line at the far end of the lake is the retaining wall.
