BMW Paralever Driveshaft Remanufacturing

I am offering the complete driveshaft remanufacturing service for the '95 and earlier Paralever BMW's.

This includes:

1) Replacement of stock rubber damper with a Urethane damper. (This cures the out of phase problem that plagues these shafts).

2) Conversion of driveshaft to accept, and installation of two heavy duty, high quality u-joints with grease fittings. The joints are held in place with circlips.

3) 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first).

4) Return shipping to addresses in the Continental United States. (Other addresses will be charged actual shipping cost, per customers requested carrier.)

Pricing: $450.00

I also rebuild the Monolever and earlier single joint shafts, $170 + shipping.

Pricing has changed a little.

Damper replacement with two u-joints: $450 (no change)

Damper replacement only: $165

U-joint replacement only: $325

Ok, so my ujoints crapped out. I just need the joints, but I'm called to by the dampner also... will the offroad version put more instant power to the rear wheel? (vs the stock which feels like it has some play?

The offroad version will allow less rotation of the inner tube in relation to the outer tube of the driveshaft, this is why the dampening qualities are reduced with the offroad version. I doubt that you will be able to feel this difference while riding though.

1. What's your turnaround time if someone sends you their driveshaft?

2. What parts, exactly, do they send you?

3. Have you looked at CV joints? I know Oak and B.Jan were trying to make something work with CVs...

Andrew,

1) Turnaround is three weeks or less.

2) Send the entire driveshaft.

3) Getting a shaft with CV joints would be quite a large undertaking. It would not be just a modification of the existing shaft, it would be producing an entirely new unit ($$$), from front to back. I believe that the CV project by Oak etc. is on hold right now for lack of funding.

Question purchace enquirie

Hi,

I live in New Zealand, way down on the upside down half of the globe and I have driveshaft with badly damaged Knuckles.

Can you sell me a shaft without an exchange/one to rebuild? If so how much?

Hi..I have the same problem too..Im wondering if you have replacements for sale so that i dont have to send the shaft to where you are? Or the upgraded parts for sale so that modifications can be carried out here?

I do not have enough spare shafts to start selling them outright, I need the returned cores to work through the exchange program. However, I do have a core here that is in good shape, except for the rear yoke which has badly worn splines. If your rear yoke is serviceable, you could ship it over and I will make one good shaft out of it.

There is a tremendous amount of variation in the dimensions of the yokes produced by BMW throughout the years. Every rebuild is a custom job, each yoke requiring different sized rings to properly fit the u-joints. (Rings in increments of .001 in, through the ~.015 in. variation in the distance across yoke flats.) Because of this it would not be practical to sell the rebuild in a kit form.
