FMF Question for XR650L

I bought an FMF TC4-5000 off of junk shelf at a local bike shop. The pipe is scratch a little but new other than that. The lady didnt know what bike it fit on so i took it outside and lined it up with my XR650L and it looked close. It was new and I paid $100 for it- I think it fits a KTM 250 plus others. The pipe that bolts to my header is a little off - so I would have to take it to muffler or fab shop- or --hacksaw my stock pipe off from the back of my muffler, and have it welded on the FMF.

OK-now since this is for a different bike, will it be ok on my XR650l (2000). I checked the FMF book and it shows it as a Q2-same model for my 650 and the KTM- I think its just the pipe from my header back to the muffler that is different.
Can I do this?? Will it cost me a fortune at a fab shop to have this done? Is it the right pipe for my bike? They are listed on the FMF website for around 360 bucks- thats why I bought it-

Any ideas???
The truth is out there- someday we will be the cattle

No way it could be as restrictive as a stock XRL muffler.

Most of the aftermarket pipes have the same silencer just different midpipes.

The muffler is generic, it's the mid-pipe that's model spacific. The mid-pipe on the FMF muffler is stainless steel, I don't think the mid-pipe on the stocker is. That could be trouble when you try to weld the two together. I'd go to a muffler shop, bring a 6 pack of beer with you, and show the guy what your up against. If your a good talker he'll probably bend you up a stainless mid-pipe for a couple of bucks if you promis to leave the beer with him. Good luck.
