I say you should just drill a big hole right in the middle of the plate and look through, see what's inside. Your going to replace it in the future anyway and you are looking for better flow. Just go for it IMO. Keep us posted.

Whats a spark arrestor ?

Nup, like the letter from them states we don't have a requirement for them here, I think Spark arrestor's are unique to USA.

The staintune does come with a removable plug in the outlet though.

If a spark aresstor is a peice of mesh ( anyone care to post a pic of one for me) you could easily fit one.

That's what I figured. Big Brother here requires the can to be stamped with USFS (Forestry Service) approval.

I just posted some info (from Staintune and a US importer) regarding a sparkie - not from them and I know of no aftermarket add on (with USFS stamp of course). The insert rjf pointed out is a dB eater that looks like it could become a sparkie easily... but you still need the USFS stamp. Anyone know if one of the aftermarket sparkies might be close to fitting? perhaps an adaptor could be made by Loaded (I'll volunteer him ) or on www.emachineshop.com if he refuses?

Check the LC4 exhaust thread for my post.

Down here when the road registerable bikes have a code stamped on the silencer, which must correspond to the noise test info sticker on the frame. The police were booking people with stock, unmodified mufflers if they didn't have the sticker on the bike. .

A motoorcycle lobby group managed to get some indipendent Politicians to bring the issue up in parliment. now the police cannot book people for not having the sticker. My KTM, and every other one I've looked at don't have the sticker anyway. My R1 and every Japanese bike I've checked has though

I'm all for bikes needing to have quiet mufflers, helps keep riding area's open IMO.

Mr Meat, so u think this thing is a Supercrapp, but with Euro tamper-proof device? Say yes, so I have a good argument for grinding it off.

Chris, sorry but your Supercrapp hanging from the rafters must be a fake, because nothing is made in Dubai. We only do money-laundering, sell oil, etc.

Yeah we stuff them full Dirhams and ship them to Afghanistan. Good business. Sometimes we even use banknotes as muffler packing on our bikes here.

I drilled a hole in that mystery plate but the biggest bit i have is 12mm so I can't see much behind it. The plate is quite thick, maybe 2mm. I'll cut the whole thing off tomorrow, it's late here and the neighbours, etc etc

There's a slight increase in volume, not much. It's still a very mushy sound, like "woosh woosh" as opposed to "doof doof", or something like that. More thumfer than thumper.
And a bit of popping when I throttle off.
