SW Motech crashbar - Which?
As the KTM branded crashbars are a little more expensive than other ones, I decided to get me some SW Motech's.
However, after reading some topics in this forum, I am a little bit confused.
An online shop is providing this one for the 950:
and this one for the 990:
To me, they look identically as are the pictures on their site.
If I look to the Twisted Throttle site (SW Motech site appears to be down at this moment), I discover that these for the 990 doen't have the bar going upwards anymore.
So, need a little help here as I am starting to get really confused ...
Which one is the right one?
edit: it's going to be for my brand new 'stealth' 990 in a couple of weeks...

Which bike are you putting them on?
If you have a 950 get the SW motec with the bars that run up along the
fairing. These are the best set of bars for the big KTM's. Much better
attachment points than any other ones I seen.
If you have a 990 you will need to buy the set without the bar running
up along the upper fairing and and bolting to the steering tube. The 990's
electrics are in the way, I'm modifying a set of the 950 bars to fit my
990. I really like the three mounting points.
These bars are very strong, I tumbled my fully loaded 950 on a dirt road
in Patagonia, riding two up at 95kph with no damage to the bike. She was
knocked out but the bike was good.

Looks like the same 950 in both pictures on the site. Stating the obvious, order the one for the 990 but maybe call, verify and mention the image on their site is a little confusing.

The same bars fit the 990 and the 950. There used to be one that was model-specific, but the "new" ones work on both. The kit comes with different spacers to use depending on what bike you have, but the guards are the same.

Here is a link
This was the Motech install on a 990.
According to the Mnf they no longer make the ones that run up the side of the tanks to thehead stock due to incompatability with the 990.
If you have a 950 and can still get them I do agree they offer way more protection, but not an option for the 990.
The link gives some detailed info and I also crash tested them as well and they work pretty good.
Took some fenagiling to install but went pretty easily.
