I understood that both the 12 ltr tank from an LC 4 640 and the KTM 18 ltr tank fits the SXC. You will also need the seat from the LC4 640 though.

As max mentioned, the 18L tank bolts right on and the seat is required, but what a great excuse to upgrade to the "comfort" seat. If you use this tank, you will also need to order a locking gas cap and the appropriate fuel line as it is molded so as not to kink.

18L tank part#58407013400 $369.00
Comfort Seat part#57907340000 $93.95
Gas Cap part#58407008100 $69.64
Fuel line part#58407016000 $4.34

KTM has everthing in stock and available.

I was afraid I would have go that route. I just don't have an extra $500
laying around for a gas tank and seat at the moment. Thanks for the advice and prices.

I've got the IMS on my bike. Had to do some re-molding around the radiators with the heat gun and on the nub on the bottom of the seat. There's a gap between the edge of the seat and the tank that doesn;t look so good. But it does what it's supposed to, hold gas. You'll need to buy some new fuel line to as the petcock is on the other side.

Cheers
Brett

I've also got the IMS on mine. I agree with soloyosh about needing some heat gun work to fit it and the gap at the seat, but at $200 instead of $500 for the KTM 18l, I think its a reasonable option.

I've been wrestling with this one for a while and can't/won't make my wallet cough up the $500.

Can either of you guys with the IMS tanks snap a pic or two and post them? While I've seen a few pics of SXC's w/ the IMS 4gal tank I wouldn;t mind seeing how yours turned out. Otherwise it's gonna be a couple $35 Kolpin fuel packs in the panniers....

Thanks.

I am not trying to hijack your thread but I was wondering if anyne can tell me if thew comfort seat is any better than stock. I just bought a 625 SXC today.

Also, has anyone added rear foot pegs for riding 2 up?

Yes, the comfort seat is way better than the stocker. I used to get monkey bum after about 1/2 a day on the stock SXC seat. With the comfort seat I can ride for a couple of days sitting down & me bum is as good as new
I lashed out & bought the 18 litre KTM tank as then I had a good excuse to get the seat as well Best thing I ever did. It holds more like 20 litres (did 300kms on 1 tank -drained it & still had about a litre left) You only notice the extra weight when the tank is chockas full & I forget about it after about 5 minutes. Still nice & narrow -easy to stand up. Spend the dollars. Five minutes into the first ride after fitting you will have forgotten how much you spent & will be laughing at all those suckers walking around with their legs spread at the end of a ride

18l tank

Gday the 18L KTM tank bolts straight on with the standard 625SXC seat.
The Adventure seat is needed with the 28L tank.

Keep checking on Ebay. Those tanks come up probably monthly.
It fits like a glove on the SXC,
Komfort seat, you can't believe how much of a difference it makes.
I've had mine now for almost 3 years, a little dished (broken down foam)
right in front of the neck of the gas tank, but still very comfy.
Have a buddy who did the exact same swap, borrowed my 18L tank to see if it fits, now got almost 5 k miles on his SXC, comutes 30 - 40 miles a day, loves it!

My buddy swiped my pegs and mounts off my LC4 e 2001 and mounted them on the 625 sxc.

SXC 18l + comfort seat

I added the 18l tank and confort seat last year and have been enjoying the benefits. The tank is 5.5 gallons + (20-21l) despite the 18l label. The seat turns the bike into an multiple day traveler even for a candy ass. The only downside is the stock suspension is a bit overwhelmed by the extra weight. Takes 5 minutes to swap back to the stock trail setup. As a side note, I had to modify the comfort seat to fit the tank on my 04 SXC, 10 minute DIY job.

Check new Acerbis tank 6.6 gal

I don't know if it will fit your bike, but Acerbis has come out recently with this one. As soon as I can confirm it will fit my 2002 520 EXC, I'm getting one. Its seems to retail for $250.
