Who knows.... At my age, a kid on a TW200 could probably out run me in the woods, even if I had a TE610.

It ain't always the bike. Mebbe for some of y'all youngsters out there, that have the reflexes to use one of these things to it's absolute potential. But those days are far behind me. I can't use my DR to it's absolute potential...which then makes it quite fast for me, and the thought of being out-run, irrelevant.
Gotta admit I do like pushing the envelope ever now and again....gets the adrenaline pumping!

I ride with a buddy who has one and he's very quick on it. I have trouble keeping up on an 1150GS. I eat it in the straights, but in the twisties he's way faster.

All the screws and bolts on my DR show no signs of loosening whatsoever, but i hardly clean 'cept twice a year , then deal with all the stripped screw heads and mud crusted bolts. Can't believe the regular beatings this bike will sustain. Experiment continues .

I use mine to it's absolute potential occasionally.
Unfortunatly it somehow gets a lot more potential in others hands :(

I spent the arvo trying to catch my mate on his DR.

I never knew how fast they could go

Or just how slow that I ride

Today also gave me the chance to clock up 1000kms on my Mitas E-09.

I have given them a workout on most types of terrain. The first 400km was done in one day and the next 600km has been riding to work and playing in the bush. I have run them at 14psi the whole time.

As you can in the photos, there is next to no wear on them.

This is with 6kms 14mm tread depth

And these are the 1000km photos now 13mm tread depth

I highly recommend these tyres. Guys on 640ADVs are getting 6000kms out them so the DR should do 8000kms pretty easy

here's a reality check

XR650R still holds more Baja 1000 wins than any other mount, and this year you'll see a spate of them lining up once again. Rightly so. Tweak those to max and they are like magic in that terrain.

BUT - I had a tweaked XRR at the same time as we procured the first of my two DR's - the 02. The Blue-goose 02, stock, outran the XRR, nonstock.
Just that simple. With stock gearing, the DR is more attuned to slamming down the slab, mine clocking an imagined 105 whereas the XRR is done at about 88 or so mph. XRR would leap ahead like the proverbial Hare, then the DR would catch up, pass, and not look back.

now, going downhill in rocky mountainous terrain .. no contest. you gotta just slow down and creep on a DR, with ANY kind of springs. The XRR just pounds everything into submission.

Nsu

NEutral Sending Unit - the Green Light Lighter.
A 4-cent fastener that can detonate 2000 worth of transmission, and probably bend your crank in the process, wreck your piston.... etc.

I'm watching the odo's on my two... when they hit 9000 miles, those babies are getting the operation.
