A popular, less expensive option these days is a Seat Concepts or Saddlemen re-cover/foam kit on the flexible and light stock seatpan. It's about half the cost of a custom seat, is flexible enough to fit with aftermarket OR stock tanks, is narrow where it needs to be for comfortable standing, is wide where it needs to be for comfortable sitting, and doesn't add appreciable up-high weight. |

I never even noticed my Corbin when standing, probably too busy dodginh baby heads. Sure wouldn't want to go back to stock. Mine is with the 5 g tank.

I'm with you. Maybe I'm bow-legged or something, but I just don't get what people are talking about when they say it sucks for standing?!?!

After having my Corbin for a few years now...I'm the exact opposite. I wouldn't go without my Corbin. The best money I have spent on my DR. If you only do 30-40 miles of trail riding (lots of standing up) a day the stocker is probably fine. But, if you plan on spending some seat time a day like I do (200-300 miles a day) it is well worth it. Ofcourse, you can see that some can stand the stocker...how, I don't know. Unlike the rest of me, my ass is about 2% body fat and 30 miles on the stocker made me want to sell the bike!

But, they do make paints that are made to help transfer heat. Someone else might be more versed in it but I know a lot of radiators in cars are painted black and I was told to help protect from corrosion and help transfer heat. I know I have seen some older air cooled motors painted black as well. |

Sit down and ride
I have stock, Corbin, and Seat Concepts.
I find the Seat Concepts the most comfortable of the three. Corbin is nice and wide but rather hard for my boney butt. Stock is just plain uncomfortable to me for longer than 20 minutes.

Just put this on using a mid pipe from Jesse. It's a Hayabusa 24F0. I haven't started it up yet, not ready to do that yet.

Seat Concepts vs Stock:
![]() ![]() I got the 1" taller than stock. I lasted 7 years with the stock seat. I do stand a lot when riding. It was an upcoming 1500 mile pavement trip that got me to upgrade. I won't go back' I also think the black makes the bike look better than the old yellow/purple scheme. Almost don't notice the purple frame any more. ![]() ![]() I would recommend the Seat Concept to anyone thinking about upgrading. $160 if you do it yourself and $20 more plus shipping of your stock pan, if you want them to staple it on. If you tell them you are on ADVRider, They used to ship it back free.

Riding in the rocks in New England trails, beats on the lower parts of any bike. With it's lower ground clearance (compared to my KTM) I whack stuff quite often. After getting home from the last ride, while washing my DR, I noticed the part of the brake pedal that your foot lands on was gone. All that was left was the welds. I was wondering how I could fix it when I remembered I had a brake pedal from my now gone 2000 KTM in a box of stuff. I got it and took the toe rest off and after some grinding with an angle-grinder to get rid of the weld material, I drilled a hole and bolted on the replacement piece. Didn't even have to take the stock pedal off the bike.
KTM part # 54603060150 Be sure to get the little bolt 0933050163 that goes with it. It's got a tapered head to countersink it so it doesn't hit your case. $10 total. Free if you have one laying around in a box in the garage. ![]()

Ditto on the Seat Concepts. The tall is a nice option if you have the inseam for it. The area toward the middle is 10" wide instead of the stocker's 7....and flat. Nice place to scoot back into if on a long road ride or just need a backside break.
