If Acerbis is making them that cheaply for the KTM, and the numbers of DR650SE's sold throughout the years seems greater than each KTM model... perhaps petition Acerbis to create body panels for the DR650?
Even if they only came in one or two colors, if the price was right for side-covers (or a whole kit)... they'd sell compared to Suzuki's prices.

Find the plastic pale that has the color you like, and forum your own plastic parts. or even better is to make them out of aluminium.
They are so easy to make, and home built looks better if you put some effort into it. We have a good selection of diffrent colored pales up here in Westen Canada. White is the most common, then Black is pretty readable. Blue, Yellow, are a bit tougher to find. I cut on my square and reform it into the flat mode with hot, hot, and hot water. Then cut out the shape needed. I put it in place on the bike to see where it needs the bends and mark them on the clean out side. With a heat gun on the back side of the pannal is were I heat to make my bends. A few race stickers and your good to go. From Jeathrow Bowdean PS: Man made it, and man can fix it him self !!! Sorry for the sidetrack, but is that amount of slack in the throttle cable normal? I'm asking because I was fiddling with mine while adjusting for an R6 throttle tube this past weekend.

Just a thought... but ProCycle has the complete plastics kit for $359 WITH side panels. Why not order that in the color you want, then sell off the other pieces? Might make it cheaper. I dunno, it's a thought.
I'm going to order new plastic later this year when I get closer to stripping my bike down for a frame powdercoat and the 790 kit. I'm considering switching to black plastic (and a new black Acerbis tank) because the white IMS I have now is a total PITA to keep looking nice. Plus I'm considering painting the engine cases black like Jeff did on his 900 stroker kit. I can't wait to see pix of that back in the bike. Rob

Right on. It might sound like a lot of money but compared to the rest of two wheeled vehicles, it's a steal.
