Hey B. if i use AMS oil (when the the coins are good) i don't even touch it till after 5k and when i do change it, the viscosity is still good and oil is clear. Does it have any after market stuff?? Major mods? Pm a picture of it if u can.

If you read thoroughly through the DR650 related forums you won't find anyone who has actually worn out a DR650 motor. There are plenty around with 50K+ miles and several in the 80K to 100K range still running along.

So, if it seems to run good don't sweat 18K miles. At that mileage it could need plenty of chassis related stuff - wheel bearings, fork seals, sprockets, brakes, suspension, etc. All pretty easy to check out and all pretty easy to address.

I follow the Suzuki maintenance chart with oil changes and some kind of service every 3000-3500 miles. Servicing this bike is easy.

18,000 is not a lot of miles..... if the bike has been cared for.

Full synthetic, magnetic drain plug.

Note that the Keintech mid pipe is for an oversized header...it is not stepped down for the stock head pipe.
