Trying to determine the source of the leak, I wiped the fuelcock clean, and then watched to see where fuel appeared. It seemed to be coming from around the fuel switch.

So I disconnected the line, and took off the cock, and cleaned it out a little.
I inspected the O ring under the fuel switch, and it was fine. I added some teflon tape under here for a temporary seal, just to see if that stopped the leak.

After putting everything back together, I refilled the tank. It seemed like there was no fuel leaking while the bike was sitting. Great! I fired her up, and fuel began to sortof "spurt" out of a little hole (size of a pencil lead) on the bottom side a plastic piece near the back of the fuelcock, near the vacuum hose. It really seems to be coming FROM the hole, not from around the seal.

I let the bike idle for about 1 minute to see if the fuel would stop leaking. It didnt.

Any advice about how to stop my leak?

Sounds like you need to install a rebuild kit for your petcock, or just replace it with an aftermarket one. I think your vacuum diaphram is damaged.

BTW, the mega thread for older DR's like ours is here:

Parts have never been an issue, I deal with three KTM dealers all fairly local to me. Now GasGas, thats where getting parts seems to be an issue, but I'll let that one go. Talking hard to get parts - I own a building full of OSSAs. Oops, showing my age. They've been extinct since the late 70s in the USA. Fortunately, I'm tied in with the 'ossa family'. We kind of 'feed each other'. As far as my Suzukis, I have the (wee) Strom, the DR650 and wifey has a DR200(yup its her baby). My company maintains the local Suzuki dealership, so guess who gets bikes/parts for cost? If its two wheels, its ALL good!

As we give thanks today...

For dominating the American Indians, driving them back with our far superior Japanese motorcycles, occupying their land, while pleasuring their women to their great satisfaction, it is important to note that this is an international thread.

This great land (the USA) is a melting pot of cultures from around the world and that is what gives us our great strength. We are a diverse culture with citizens of varying degrees of assimilation adding their voices to this, the greatest of all human experiments. Sometimes, a member falls short in the communications department. For this we ask: Cut a little slack.

Yeah, or whatever. I can't blame you sometimes.

You Aussies can be tough.

Don't believe a word you say, Gnarls. Your poppa may maintain the bathrooms at said shop, but that's about it. Oops, showing my skepticism. Oh, BTW, I own a building full of gold bricks.

I'd love for you to prove me wrong. My guess is you are 17 years old, never had a girlfriend, son.

Acerbis gas tank

I have just bought a DR650SEK8 and would like a bigger tank but the Safari is too big and the IMS too small and then I saw the Acerbis ones...
Does anybody know if the Acerbis 6.6 gal tank can be installed with the standard seat?
