Perfect for the road ride'n i do and just as good on the dirt ride'n that i do.
So far so good. Now i just have to see how long they last.

I have ~500 miles or less on my GP-1s and while I like the tire they are already showing significant wear. The dimples in the center knobs are gone now (~1/8 inch). I run 25lbs in the front and 29lbs in the rear.

Traction is very good with these tires. I didn't have too much of an issue with mud, sand, or rocks on the Kokopelli ride. The front did wash easily in ruts but otherwise the tires were planted.

Dr with flames!!

Hey guys. I fixed up my 02 this winter. I think the flames gave me a few more horses . I am really diggin the Fastway foot pegs and Pro Moto Billet rack. The skid plate and frame covers are from B&B. The graphics are from xgxracing. I know the flames are unique and are not for everyone but I like em. What do you think?

I'm using the Shinko 244 which are GP1 copies.
As the rear wears down it will last longer.
I use 18psi front and 20 rear in the gravel or the front will wash but on the road use 25f/30r as you do.
The rear has seen about 7000km and will probably see another 1000 and the front will probably see another 7-8000 easy.

I'll probably be switching them out for some IRC GP110's when the rear goes to see what they're like though.

I find the rear breaks loose very easily but is very smooth and predictable. I prefer the feel of the Mitas E07 rear which seemed to grip with the compound rather than the knob edge which is more in line with my riding style (tempted to try a trials rear on my XR250).

I agree, I was under the assumption that they were bulletproof too. Maybe the manufacturers are counting on the very few that actually attain high miles on the average bikes. Maybe the chain was too tight or the engine was lugged in a high gear a lot?

Hard to say, would like to hear from other high mileage owners to see what their experiences have been.

I think it's only at 33k now.

There are no perfect bikes.I have an 1150 Adventure and a KLR. Both are great bikes but not perfect. I find that the KLR and the 1150 do close to the same job. The Dr moves the bar quite a bit toward the dirt side and that is what I wanted. I know that the DR is bullet proof and am sorry to hear that your bike is giving trouble.
I thank you for posting about your bike problems to keep us all informed.

Are there anymore high mileage dr 650's out there?
How bout you Snowrider?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Personally I will probasbly continue using the GP1s because the hook up well and don't seem to have the issues that the copies (like the Kenda 270s) have on wet pavement. The GP110 does sound like a good option for the rear.

B&b

B&B Off Road Engineering makes the nicest skid plates for the DR. The problem is that they are located in Austrailia. I got the Skid plate and frame protectors on EBay direct from B&B. The shipping was actually pretty fast and I had the stuff in about a week. Here is their website. Their stuff cost a little more but is worth the extra.

DUDE! Your bike is on fire! Maybe it'll melt some of that snow. Are those Kenda 270's? The front looks pretty good' I'm running full knobbies and they don't last very long, esp on the rear.

A guy in Europe built up this crazy custom DR 650 SM. Thought I'd post some pics for him. This guy put alot of time, thought, and cash into this super DR. Props to this guy.

Anyone have the length on the brake line? I need that too. I took two inches out of the travel of the fork so as not to mess up the geometry of the bike, so I'll have them make the line 2 inches shorter than stock.
So how hard was it to fit the DR ft end on a BMW? Ive got an old /6 that Im putting together and they typically have little or no brakes,Ive heard of people doing this but the brakes on my DR even with a steel braided line are just ok at best at high speeds with a 350 lb thumper. The Beemer weighs around 500 and I wonder how this swap works out? Thanks!

Looking for Fat Chance's Pelican Case mounting thread

Hi Guys,
I found Fat Chance's detailed thread of his mounting Pelican cases earlier but can't find it again. Does anybody know where it's located?

Acerbis Fuel Tanks Out of Stock?

Called my dealer to day to order an Acerbis 4.0 gal. tank. Got a call back from him saying that all the distributors he called were out of stock. So he called Acerbis direct only to be told they didn't have any and didn't have any idea when or if tanks would be coming from Italy. I found one at TPI and it's on the way. Just a heads up if you were interested in getting one, I'd pull the now.

Why did you buy a 4.0 gal tank?
