Talking German Visitor

Hi all,

i`m going to visit the USA westcoast and canada in June,July and August. The trip goes from L.A. through the rockies via several national parks up to canada. I´m planning to ride to prudoe bay and than along the coast/HW no.1 back to L.A. I´m flying my own bike over with german registration.

I´m looking forward to meet some of you guys for a ride or some drinks.
If you want to get in contact feel free to mail weingartner.klaus@web.de

Greetings from germany

Howdy, foreigner... WOW, sounds like you're havin' a real excursion. You probably won't get to my neck of the woods in central washinton, but I wish you the best of riding anyway..You might get a better response from local riders if you post in the regional forums. Try "pacific northwet" for west coast and some British Columbia folks too....cheers---Mark---

Hey Klaus,

When are planning to be at Prudhoe Bay. All being well I'll be up there the last week of July. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of that wonderfuly long vacation time you've got planned and my intention is to do Atlanta/Prudhoe and back in two weeks, so I'll barely have time to spit, let alone drink much, but I'll keep a look out for you along the way. Along wtih my 950, my goup will have be riding a 1200gs and a V-Strom.

Have fun on your trip, Klaus!

Now, Douf, you are really going to try to Iron Butt it for two weeks straight? You really might want to reconsider ATL-Alaska-ATL in two weeks. You better let your boss know you might be a week or two late getting home.

Atl-Alaska-Atl in two weeks.

Hey Pilot,

That's the plan. One of our guys is an Iron Butt member and he assures me it's at least possible. Personally though, the furthest I've done is 6000 in ten days (on a KLR with a bunch of off road and a couple of isolated 1000 mile days thrown in) which I know is a world away from what we're looking at. It'll be interesteing to see how both I and the bike hold up. I'm planning on riding out to New Mexico (maybe stop by the KTM gathering briefly) next weekend for a shakedown run. I just hope James' seat is all it's cracked up to be.

If you're going to be coming through San Francisco, give me a shout. It is the KTM 950 capital of the USA

And bring lots of money for gas. I heard today it's estimated to shoot up to $4.00 per gallon for 87 octane during the summer months.

When you get to L.A. give us a call. Plenty of riders here. Some of us
even have bikes that look suspiciously like yours

Perhaps we can afford you a TARD meeting as well. Good luck on your
trip, hope to meet you.

Klaus, if you are going to be in Nothern Calif. around that time, you might want to check out the KTM rally in Nevada...
