It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it, curly. Hey, I'm a second generation Californian...it's cold to me. I wouldn't last five minutes in Newfoundland.

BTW, there will be a hard freeze tonight on the hill, into the 20's so watch for black ice in the shade. Here's the forecast.

Wanna go to chef's favorite place across from alice's? Seems like there's plenty of room for us to stretch out in front of the bar.
I would be there but I'm going over the hill to buy a motorcycle

I'm gonna buy a motorcycle, I'm gonna buy a motorcycle, I'm gonna buy a motorcycle, I'm gonna buy a motorcycle, na na na na na.

I have a buddy who has been trying to get me to buy his '72 Commando for months....what are the most desirable year models?

Oh gosh! I'm still real green to the whole vintage bike scene. The Commandos were only built for a short time. There is a ton of info on the web regarding them and Gyro knows them.

I have been hunting for a great runner that is not a “looker”. This is because I will be building my dream Norton, polished alloy tank, solo seat, clip-ons, etc.

Good luck, my friend!

Hell, stop by anyway - we always hang out for an hour or so...

Nice to see y'all. Fun ride. We got lucky with the weather and
the road conditions weren't bad.

All of my photos are here.

Meet My Lord the '75 Commando

You shudda seen this one when I rolled it off a trailer two years ago. It wasn't a looker, either, but it was complete.
A complete POS.
I shudda taken some "before" pics, but I couldn't wait to start in on it.

If anyone's interested, pm me and I can provide details where parts and services came from (Carb re-sleeving, head work, new black diamond valves, laser-drilling the discs and stuff.)

I'll find my notes.
Amazing that I was able to write with the stubs that used to be my fingers before I started polishing all that lovely Brit chrome!

Sorry, Rad, that I didn't get back to you sooner on the Norton leads. You seemed like a rational person who would not let yourself fall into the abyss of vintage British motorcycle ownership.

There is no known cure.

Eh? One's missing. The one you and cRAsH were gonna take for the hall of fame.

I missed yet another local lunch ride...this time cuz I can't read apparently. I glanced at this thread yesterday but somehow thought it was just an update on an old thread. I blame having only 3 hours sleep Wed night for my being brain dead yesterday when I glanced at the thread (not sure what to blame today's brain-deadedness on though).

How about a wee bit more notice next time? :):

I don't mind riding in the cold (as long as my heated handgrips keep heating, I'm good to go)...
