Mrs Freeflow ride from Phoenix to Wisconsin
I'm new to posting here and I want to get out and put on a few more miles so this will be the short version and pics later...
Actually started off the trip arriving at our friend - Dr. Todd's house and finding the rear tire was flat - He had just changed out the used up Maxxis tire and put the gripster on and took it for a short test run... by the time I got there - Oops, flat ...Ok.. need lunch and back to change it - thanks for the help Todd!... Put in a new tube and I patched the old one.. pin hole - not sure if it was a pinch flat or what... doesn't matter - this is all part of the adventure!!! Took it for a test run and feel the road... 40 miles on Carefree Highway - gotta love the name - CAREFREE!!!! We went to 'Ten' for dinner - a little sushi for the evening meal - gotta love that! Great restaurant, great service, and fantastic sushi!.. Back to the ranch to set-up the telescope and look at stars... mostly the moon.. beautiful clear skies and nice evening... Day 1 : Left yesterday a.m. from Cave Creek Arizona, thru Flagstaff and up to the Grand Canyon!! Got behind an accident that just happened on I-17 - truck & trailer jack-knifed and flew off to the side... fortunately for me I was just far enough behind I didn't see it and close enough that I was able to pass around it before any police/fire services were there.. no one was injured - but what a mess... The rest of the ride was fabulous... weather couldn't be better and the ride was great! Short lunch stop in Flagstaff, a call to my honey - Freeflow... I'm so lucky... From I-17 to Flagstaff, 180 North to 64 and into the Grand Canyon Awesome - my first time visiting this incredible place on earth!! Riding has been great, very scenic and beautiful weather... Mountains, vista's, plains, canyons - Grand Canyon Grand Canyon - Absolutely stunning... deer that don't move next to the road as you drive by, a wolf ran in front of me as I entered the park - well maybe it was a coyote, but it was larger than a german shepherd and looked more like a wolf... stopped at every possible vista look-out point there - just unbelievably expansive and we have this right in our own yard!! I've seen antelope, deer, a wolf, coyotes, and many beautiful sites.. The bike has been running awesome.. Thanks honey for dialing it up for me! Gas stops have been quick... and I even gave the bike it's first scar... I stopped by the exit to the Grand Canyon to take a photo in front of the sign and it fell over after I got off of it - I'm fine, I was off the bike and plink - over it went... People are wonderful and friendly... a couple of vehicles stopped and two guys and myself picked it back up again... no problem... They even said thanks because they wouldn't have stopped otherwise and after we righted the bike - 2 coyotes came trotting through right in front of us... they got some great photo's I'm sure... I tried, but I can't tell on the camera screen if the coyote can be seen... broke my sunglasses in the process - good thing I brought a spare - preparation! Headed from there to Page - Hwy 64 to 89 - the route was great and coming through the rocky pass was incredible - sorry no photo's on that one - had to keep hands on the bars... passed Page and went to view the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell - the light was awesome as I rode into town just before sunset time... Some black clouds were rolling in but they stayed just south so far... I'm in a nice little hotel here - Page Boy Hotel - the owners are very nice and riders themselves.. the motorcycle stays in front of the office under the canopy.. found out I wasn't that hungry for dinner - filled up on fresh air and miles under the tires yesterday!! A nice hot shower, relax, and zzzzzzzz's.... about 360 miles for the day... Today I head towards Durango, Colorado.. looking forward to more wonderful scenic routes... I'm slow at posting - thus no photo's right now - those will be posted later... I'm off - gotta hit the road!!

If she's on her way to Wisconsin I hope she has a snow tire for that bike. Looks like you could get 2 to 4 inches of wet snow, ouch!

Jeff/Shelley, if its gonna be cold and snowy up north, just stop and leave the bike at our house. West side of Chicago burbs, 20mi east of I-39 and I-88.

It's been cold and rainy here for the last two days. The forcast calls for more of the same out until Tuesday -that's as far as the forcast goes.
Take your time getting home Shelly and ride safe. ![]() |
