Accident Saturday night near Hot Springs
From Asheville channel 13: Fatal Accidents
A tragic night on a mountain road, after a motorcycle accident claims one life and leaves a passenger in critical condition.
It happened just before 7:00 Saturday night on Highway 25/70 in Madison County. Troopers say the driver of the motorcycle was heading toward Hot Springs just about a mile from the Tennessee border when he lost control. Officials say the driver then hit a guard rail and was ejected into a ravine. The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. The passenger is in critical condition after being flown to a hospital in Tennessee. Troopers are not releasing the names of the victims. The accident is still under investigation.
I was on my way to Hot Springs from Newport, TN and got stopped on the highway to let Lifeflight land for the passenger (wife). Story goes: New cruiser, little experience, no ATTGAT, high speed, long straightaway, no counter steer, hit the guard rail. Sad.

Shame. One of the telling lessons from the Hurt Report is that riders on bikes new to them have more accidents than riders on bikes with which they are familiar.
