I rode an XB9SX last year and thought it was a ball. It was a demo bike and had the same clutch adjustment issues described by another poster above. But the torque and handling was seductive. Not long after, I stumbled onto an older tube-frame model (S3 Thunderbolt, which has the 1200 motor) for the right price and snapped it up. I love it. The combination of stump-pulling torque and razor-sharp handling is magic. Just tons of fun. And, after all, isn't that what it's all about?

Seems like a natural progression of the Buell line of motorcycles (which, predates the SV). And the CityX seems like an unusual interpretation of the "naked" bike with handguards, headlight guard, motocross-style seat, translucent bodywork, plus the usual Buell stuff like belt secondary drive, air-cooled, pushrods, fuel in frame, oil in the swingarm, inverted front brake, muffler under the motor,etc...wait...how is this an answer to a Suzuki again??? Unless you credit Suzuki for inventing motorcycles...

I'll be the first to admit that the SV and Weestrom are probably the best bang for the buck in the middleweight naked twin class.
Its just that they are ugly as sin, look worse with luggage on them, and in general just don't appeal to me at the same level as the ducati and buell. And the buell isn't anything like the SV, from what I've read... |

Dealer or no Dealer?
Do you have a good dealer in your area? Perhaps your can find some Buell owners that have experience with dealers in your area to help decide. Finding a good dealer is a sore spot with Buell. One near me is stupid expensive to do anything, the other is just stupid.

Couple of weeks ago I headed up to Capital HD in Madison to attend their Demo day. I got there at about 11:am and nobody had signed up yet, so I jotted my name down for the City X and the Night Rod. Usually HD dealerships are quite cool about taking one of their mounts out for a quick spin if you show serious interest, and if you have little or no interest, go to the next demo day. Very low key. Name, license number, helmet, your on your way, in a group of course.
