ktm 690 foot bracket removal for kouba install

Hey all need some feedback on safe removal of left foot peg bracket on my attempt to install a koubalink. The issue I have is with 19mm bolts (50 torx). Right side comes off no problem. Left side just turns. Look like each 19mm bolt threads into a rod which also happens to support the engine. So with one bolt off, the remaining bolt just spins the rod and nothing happens. I see no way of 'fixing' said rod in place in order to remove the left bolt.

Anyone else have this problem? Can I simply punch the rod along with remaining bolt out without causing any damage?

Don't hit it hard but steady pressure will push it out.

Just did mine

OK cool. Did you remove right bracket and put 19mm back in and tap on that or use something else? Afraid to use a punch so as to not damage any threads

A long 1/4" ratchet extension is a good size to push on the rod without touching the rod threads.
We had to remove both foot peg brackets. Well, remove one and swing the other up out of the way.
Watch for loose needles when you pull it out. The original 1-5/8" Kouba Link on mine had loose needles. The new 1" one came with caged needles.
