This thread is incomplete without this!

The title suggest research on LC4 reliability but the content reflects data more akin to an LC4 register. For reliability, I would suggest looking at this
thread at horizons unlimited. Succinct data on LC4 faults for the reliability connoisseur!

2. Year: 2000
3. Bought used or new: used
4. Current mileage: 10,600
5. Modifications done: 17in KTM Supermoto Wheels. Supertrap full system, removed snorkel, revalved f/r suspension, lowering suspension linkage, black plastics, KTM comfort seat, Pro Taper bars, Moose Racing Handguards, .
6. Mechanical work done: routine maintenance, replaced speedo cable at 7K miles. fork oil and seals at 8K.
7. Upgrades done: 18L Tank. 145 main jet, Factory Pro jet kit going in on Friday
8. Current tires on the bike: Avon Distanzia Supermoto
9. Percentage of road versus dirt use: 99% road 1% dirt (although the streets of San Francisco practically qualify as an off road experience)
10. Would you buy another one?: Sure!
11. Did you replace the main shaft bearing (if applicable): Nope. I'm keeping my fingers crosse dI didn't get a bad one, but I have the bearing ready if it goes.

4. 3800kms on speedo -63hours
5. 18 litre tank (holds more like 20 litres) & comfort seat.
6. Only normal servicing
7. Upgrades? What needs upgrading? It is now perfect
8. Bridgestone Trailwing front (has to go) Michelin T63 rear
9. Road/dirt in kms -probably 40/60 -in hours 10/90
10. Not selling this one but if it got stolen etc -in a heartbeat

Just joined the site. Love my KTM, though it has been difficult. Bought crashed with no front end and took forever to find forks. Eventually got a pair of 40mm Duke 1 legs from Britain on Ebay. Rode about 500 miles prior with a '78 Yamaha front end on the Frankenduke, stupidly but with big grins. :p Daily commuter, but looking to get some SM tires and seek out some dirt.

ps - tons of mods, but nothing mechanical like... steering damper. renazco seat, bst crew. crazy suspension. ... and about a thousand other things.

ps. heated grips... they are the best mod ever. $35 ... my fingies is warm now.

4. Current mileage: 8000 problem free...eats tires though...gas too...
5. Modifications done: Full Precision Concepts workover, with heavier springs front and rear, seal savers, Rally pegs, Loaded bar risers, silicone in bars, Spyder gel grips, RAM mount for Garmin 60 csx(broken)
6. Mechanical work done: Regular service, valves, oil, ect, replaced weak fork seals, once.
7. Upgrades done: Renazco Racing Seat...Coming soon, I hope...
8. Current tires on the bike: D606 front...M-21 Rear
9. Percentage of road versus dirt use: 60/40
10. Would you buy another one?: Today if the price were right

6. one clutch cable, one pulser coil, one water pump seal and bearings.
7. added a KTM skid plate.
8. Dunlop D606 front and Perelli MT21 rear.
9. Approx 25,000 road and 7,000 dirt.
10. Yes. I also own a 2004 SMC.
11. Yes. The old bearing had 22,000 miles and was fine.

5. cored supertrapp, jetting/slide/spring mods, lowering links-2", stiffer springs front and rear; snorkel removed by PO; evap can removed
6. blown mainbearing-shop split cases to clean out; rebuilt front wheel w/ stronger spokes before recall-broke many before this; broken wiring-fixed at shop; many bolts shaken off; starter clutch replaced by shop; premuffler failed at welds; center stand tab sheared off frame-now sidestand only; low gas sensor quit-let it be; fork seals replaced; rear shock blew-rebuilt by shop; carb clogged; subframe welded where cracking at muffler attachment point; rear brake light sensor replaced, carb boot replaced
7. rally pegs, emig bar risers, handguards; 2003 seat
8. Dunlop 606 front, 908rr rear
9. 2/3 road
10. I'd buy a cheap one
11. replaced blown bearing at about 15k miles

4. Current mileage: 19,400 mi or so, Ive put on about 16,000 of that in the last year
5. Modifications done: drilled the slide holes to .125, clipped a couple of coils on the slide spring. 6 x 1" dia holes in the the air box cover with uni inserts, 160 main 47.5 pilot, previous owner put on Big gun race system with quiet core. Quiet my ass.
6. Mechanical work done:replaced broken clutch cable, water pump bearings and seals @ 13,000 miles. If I have been riding it hard or its very dusty,oil changes @ 1500 miles ( mobil 1 15w-50 gold cap) with filters @ 3K miles. If Ive been easy on it (winter) 3000 miles between oil changes
7. Upgrades done: silver star head light bulb
8. Current tires on the bike: Pirelli Mt 21 f/r 130/90-18
9. Percentage of road versus dirt use: 70% dirt
10. Would you buy another one?: With out a doubt
11. Did you replace the main shaft bearing (if applicable): Main shaft bearing replaced @ 7400 miles, caught it in the process of failing, the cage had started to separate.

6. Mechanical work done: tune ups, (09/01/07 dealing with a leak from the oil filter cover...)
7. Upgrades done: glass lens head light. street legal stuff. headlight relay upgrade. replaced plastic hand guards with metal ones. bar risers and bar ends from Stenhouse Racing.
8. Current tires on the bike: stock ones (original set)
9. Percentage of road versus dirt use: R/Dirt 10/90%
10. Would you buy another one?: yes
11. Did you replace the main shaft bearing (if applicable): no

10. Would you buy another one?: Within a heart beat, though must say with cap in hand, waiting for the new 690 Baja to dent the account when magically appearing upon our forgotten shores
