And for all youse guys hot footing back to town from the valley-sometimes the cops will park on the overpass at Old Palmer Alternate.....and if they park away from the guardrail you cannot see them until you go under the overpass, and by then they got you.

It seems to me that I've seen a black Impala often waiting by Chugiak HS in the AM. Doomed, we're all doomed.....

I do not agree. What we need is better drivers. Make it tougher to get a license, like in a lot of the European countries.
But I ain't holdin my breath on that one. I'll never see that in my lifetime.
It would help a lot if those that will not pass would leave enough space so others can make a safe pass one car at a time.
I ain't holdin my breath on that one either. 20+ sheeple in a row, nose to tail.
I would like to see a lot more of those signs saying "Drive with headlights on at all times". Then enforce it. Most of the cops in town never turn on their headlights. Jerks. Most smart drivers now do.
It's not the road, it's the drivers. You could spend billions & make the road as wide & straight as an airport runway & they would still smash into each other.

?? The State had nothing to do with that other than paying CEA big $$$ to move the transmission lines when they changed the road. Keeps the avalanches off the power lines too. Helps to keep the lights on in Girdwierd.

Better drivers and a tougher licensing scheme is a great idea, but just like you mentioned people don't get it. If we could just breed smarter people....

How many head on collisions do you know of on a divided hwy? Because it is so hard to get people to respect each other and their own lives making it hard for them to kill each other is the best way IMO.

I agree with the headlight thing except last I heard the law only requires it for roads with speed limits of 45mph and higher. It should be a law on all roads at all times.

So you're saying the state had nothing to do with moving the road into turnagain arm? Isn't that why potter's marsh exists? They put a road out in the arm and everything in between the new road and the old road became marsh. I guess I don't see why they can't do that all the way through the "safety corridor" (except for the millions of $$).

Do you mean a blue Mini Cooper? I saw one pulling out of the dip in Lake Otis between Northerlights and E20th where the police like to sit and wait for speeders comin down the hill. Never thought about it maybe bein a cop.

Thanks for the heads up on all the rigs. MH

Locally, they've put up the 'Double Fine' signs during stripping/repaving operations on Douglas Hwy. Ironic, because the traffic back-ups on the 2-lane road extend beyond the double fine zone. Nobody could do more than 15 through there.

STOP (sign) – actually means “downshift to second”

YEILD - actually means “keep on coming, some bastard will have to yield to let you in”

RED LIGHT - actually means “stop if you feel like it, first 10 seconds optional”

YELLOW LIGHT - actually means “GO like hell”

GREEN LIGHT - actually means “GO to everyone except the first couple guys up front, means nothing to them because they are in “red light coma” having been stuck there so long that the blinky little lights no longer register”

SPEED LIMIT xx MPH - actually means …. No meaning, not enforced.

And buy the special Anchorage Package on your next car to save a few bucks – no mirrors or turn signals since nobody uses them anyway.

Hah!
Lucky for you your font color choice is only the third most fucking annoying thing I've dealt with today. My wrath is being used on others...

No, the State did the road, CEA does the power lines.

Mini Vans...some state troopers on duty with the feds use state rigs (unmarked) for commuting the Glen and Seward.

With the state park on one side and the water on the other where else would you put a road.

I think the new part of the road was a fed grant from our fine uncle teddie.

They spent all that money and at best they con only come up with three lanes max.

I think it has something to do with GREEN!.

panty boys. you've had it easy for a long time and now it gets a tad tougher.

this too shall pass.

i've been absolutely shocked at being able to maintain a clean driving and riding record for the last decade in spite of my uh, assertive motoring style.

good luck to all this year and i hope that if you get popped it's a traffic schoolable ticket.

If you take a good look at where the tracks are down there you'll see a connetion between that and road improvments. Uncle Teddys love this train!!!
Funny thing is our speed limit went UP through that area.

As I look back through the decades, theres a thought that prevails. We are born without a road map and a choice of many trails...........
