Going to Nordkapp this summer?

If so, there's an old postal road going from Alta to Kautokeino over large parts of the Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau. This is the old postal route that, while no longer maintained, is still an official road so it's perfectly legal to ride.

Unfortunately, I haven't had an opportunity to ride it myself, but I've seen and heard some rave reports. I've created a track that starts up on the main road, the E6, in Alta and ends in Kautokeino. Total track length is > 120 km, approx. 100 km off-road/dirt track. Fuel will only be available at the beginning and end points. There are also organized ATV tours on this road, so you can expect some other traffic. The ATV tours are organized from the Gargia mountain cabin, AFAIK.

Great idea!!! If I do "the tour of Europe" (hopefully within the next 5 year), I will try this road

I'm off to Tromso, Norway in 6 weeks to see the northern lights - I'm definately gonna get this baby loaded onto my GPS and check it out

If I survive, I'll make sure I do a ride report

Uhmm, you'd be better off with a snowmobile then. I don't think you should attempt this road before July.

howwwwwww hey OyvindSn do you have more GPS Tracks from dirt roads in Norway, Sweden or Finland?? I plan to be near you area in June
