comment on oil
check some of the sport bike forums, many thrashers are useing C rated oils such as rotella mainly because they have little or no additives and the polimer structure of C rated oils is round and ball like not long and cylinder, the thought is that the cylinders get chopped up by the gears in the transmission, the feeling is that the Automotive oil gets fractured and thus the friction fighting capability reduces
here is some info on the latest CJ-4 rateing http://lubrizol.com/CJ-4/protection.asp |

Sir Yellow Pig. Where is that trail? Co. I presume. I'd like explicit details, as I get lost easy. That looks like pure riding heaven.

OK here's "Ivan the Terrible" with brand new shiny Texas plate AND inspection sticker! Fully legal for these parts.
![]() ![]() Not as nice as a lotta ones posted here... but it took a lot longer than I thought to get it to this point. Here's a list off the top of my head: - SRC radiator cap - SRC air filter support - Twin Air Filter - "Race Spec" jet job, wide open "insulator", big tailkit [pretty open back there], in short, UNcorked - Dual-beam 35w headlight in original shroud ... neat trick eh? The honda shroud etc is SO much better than anything else I've seen in terms of stability, control.... NOT a lotta light, but way better than polisport et al- Horn, Drag Specialties mechanical speedo... calibrated right - Complete DC charging system & battery - Brakelight rear actuated. I have not addressed front brake integration yet... - Brand new MT21's, balanced well. Pretty smooth to way hi speed where the wind shear makes me unstable! bugs hurt - unknown mirror... that's gotta go. I want those crooked-stem black round ones but haven't found.... - Grip Puppies!! best mod yet - Better fork oil.... now i can't remember what weight we put in. something strange like 4.5 ??? way better than it was Now for Phase 2..... z

XRR DS conversion
Zapp22,
I'm thinking same re Honda headlight shroud. Where can I find matching lens/light like you did? Thanks BTW another DS XRR lurker. Just got 06 XRR and slowly working toward DS. |

The 25 looks pretty good actually, better than I thought it was going to. And the honda shoud is done right... very stable, and the lens is aimable. So, as I said before, I'm stickin' with this rig until I move to a 200W stator and the dual "Retina Burners" like the Baja big boys use. The other intermediate steps to me are just more of the same .... a little strength in one respect, weakness in others. there's better things to spend money on re your DS conversion. There are way smarter guys here than me on this stuff. look at the separate thread YellowPig posted on his wholesale makeover. very impressive. Congrats on your behemoth!

Zapp,
Thanks for the the info. Was hoping for whole headlight lens and bulb replacement. The plastic lens robs a lot of lumens and prob won't take bigger bulb. |

ok, it's not a great picture, but it's the beginning of my conversion project. The bike is already half-way there (4 gal Clarke tank, Edelbrock, Baja Designs DS kit, Ricky Stator kit, rear billet rack, and a few more items), yet there's always a lot more to spend money on. First I gotta get a Wisconsin title (it's got a street title from Minnesota right now). Today I spent about $300 on a Vapor speedo and some new rubber that's more dirt-oriented. More to come...
