Been on the road - kind of...

We have been playing around in the WA and OR area for the past month. Hanging with relatives, cruising around with friends. Been camping a few nights, motel 6 with the Grizwalds, bunkhouse at a ranch, sweet digs on the beach... and nice cozy beds with meals and drinks at Gina's parents and her sister's place.

Different summer for sure but loaded with some adventure. Been working a LOT on the Vee. Mostly farkel type stuff but some preventative too. Gonna ride it up at the end of July.

One of the coolest things we did was Hodaka Days in Athena, OR. All the Ol' guys were there who R&D'd those things and ran the company there in Athena. I drove a truck and trailer to pick up the break downs on the Bad Rock Reunion Trail ride. 109 bikes left and 105 returned. I got the rest! (glad it was not my truck on the Bad Rock trail...)

I also bought the newly digitized movie of the Bad Rock race - from the producer who was there to show it for the first new release in 39 years! Interviews with Hodaka big wigs who were sitting with us and Malcom Smith who had called in but could not make it... Gonna have to show this at a movie night or BBQ!

I entered the raffle for a restored Hodaka, Combat Wombat I believe, and lost... the guy that won told the story of how this was the first bike he ever owned and his dad bought if for him at Montgomery Wards in Anchorage! Maybe some of you knew him, Bill Gruben.

I will start loading up some pictures and telling some other stories... Hope all is well and Hacky heals up quickly!

Here is some info for those who want to know more about Preston Petty.

Harry Taylor is the one who won the Daytona 100 on his Hodaka Ace 100 and was R&D at Hodaka... a lot of history at that rally with bikes and people!
