This is along the lines of what I recall.

The Beginning of Hodaka

In the early 60’s, Pacific Basin Trading Company (PABATCO), a subsidiary of Farm Chemicals located in Athena, Oregon was looking to export its products outside of the U.S. At the same time, Yamaguchi Motorcycles was looking to follow on the success of Honda and begin importing motorcycles into the U.S. market.
The two companies formed a partnership and began selling the 49cc and 80cc Yamaguchi Motorcycles in 1961. According to an article by Peter Star, “by 1963, Pabatco had imported 5000 machines and distributed them through its 480 dealers.” But, in 1963 the small Yamaguchi Company went bankrupt— leaving PABATCO looking for another manufacturer to partner with for the profitable motorcycle division of the company.
Hodaka Industrial Company, maker of the engine for the Yamaguchi, was still in business. A few PABATCO employees got together at the local bar to discuss a design for a motorcycle around the Hodaka engine. According to Motorcycle Classic, styling cues for the planned bike were taken from the Cotton, a British made off-road competition machine with a record of success in off-road racing.
In 1964 the new dirt-bike designed by PABATCO employees and built in the Hodaka factory, known as the Ace 90, was released to the U.S. market.

Drilled a by-pass for the old in tank filter and put an external filter inline. I used a Golan cleanable filter for the inline.

We just got Gina's sister married off... that is why we are in the states this year. It was a 3 day event they put on for friends and family at a lodge in Washington. Gotta be the best wedding. Kind of like a bike rally with games, entertainment, mostly like minded people, and big fun. Those of you who know Diane, know how she rolls and goes all out. All meals and lodging were free for those invited!

We are now on the coast with the in-laws relaxing for a couple days (Cape Kiwanda - same place we hung on the beach with Griz & Sherri before Griz went to AK for D2D). Then we head to Bend to put new shoes on the 'Strom, ship some stuff home, and head up the road to be home around the 29th.

So weeks before the wedding, Griz and Sherri are at the house. Griz walks in through the garage where all the wedding stuff is stacked (food, decorations, etc.) and we are standing around the kitchen taking about the wedding. Griz see's the wedding logo (driftwood with the oars) that is on their invites, shirts, cups - well, it was on everything. He, Griz, looks up and says "I can make that."

Uhh, really? He said that all the stuff in the garage to make that logo in real life size to hang above their entry way... Damn, the guy is good, and his sign was use to complete the wedding scene:

At least we are going to check out the road. Seen 9 bears and lots of bikers. We will update with pix when we can as we are in Johnson's Crossing and gonna head right up to Ross if we can (my older brother lives there)... See everyone soon! We'll see The Dick if he is in his town...
